I received unprofessional and insensitive customer service and I’m not sure if it had anything to do with race, but it does appear that, race may have played a factor in to it. I had an appointment at 10:45. I was on time. Someone came in right after me. She stated that her appointment was at 11 and for some reason the staff came and got the person that walked in after me, and said very clearly that they were going to go ahead and see her first. I also received my blood pressure while I was there and was told that it Was 152/79. Which seemed extraordinary high for me ( I check it frequently) And because it seemed extremely high, I manually checked it once I left the office ( I work in the medical industry) and it was only 120/70. The Doctor that assisted me, although was very polite Said that he wasn’t able to perform the recommended procedure on my eye, and that I may want to look somewhere else, and the nurse that was in the office with him at the time once he was completed, was very dry and condescending. Again, I don’t want to assume that this was a race issue, but the rude customer Service experience, that I received from the women’s staff members was indeed below average.

Dr. Astruc is a wonderful doctor! Very patient and thorough during visits. I had to have an expedited visit after my annual eye exam where I was diagnosed at the age of 20 with lattice degeneration. I had full 360 lattice in my left eye, and u shaped lattice with a retinal tear in my right eye. He got me to surgery in a timely manner with no complications, no pain. The repair even sustained a trauma to my eye in an incident almost 3 years after surgery. They were even quick to get me checked then. Cannot recommend a better doc. He even helped me find a retina specialist for when I move to a different state. I don’t know why this place doesn’t have more reviews, but this is a doctor that cares about their patients!

Top retina doctors in Richmond. While they operate at Stony Point Outpatient Surgery Center, they see patients in Williamsburg.
