Eyesight is priceless and Dr Tucker restored mine. He is knowledgeable, kind, calm and easy to talk to. Dr Tucker made a complicated procedure seem simple. His office is well organized and welcoming. I highly recommend Dr Tucker.

Not off to a great start. Brought my father in law here for an 8:30 appt, we arrived about 8:10. No one answered the door, so we went back to sit in the car since it was 31 degrees out. We watched a couple of staff enter, and we got our of the car and tried again. This was at 8:20, for an 8:30 appt. Rang the bell, and I looked in the window and saw staff moving around. No answer. We waited another 5 minutes, and I was just getting ready to call the place (their sign on the door about their hours is incorrect). The receptionist opened the door, said nothing and walked back behind the desk. No good morning, no hello, just sat down, then asked for id. We had already printed and filled out the paperwork, so we gave them that, then sat and waited until 8:44. Not sure what the hold up was, the doctor wasn't reading any of the information we had sent from his other doctor, as she did that after we got to the exam room. The doctor was very friendly, and seemed competent, I just wasn't impressed with the way the office was run.

I have been very pleased with the responsiveness of the team and great care by the doctors at Retina Institute since my first appointment in 2013. Initially, I had an emergency after hours visit... my first contact with their office and I was assured they would stay open late to work me in- which they did. They were conservative with their approach and my vision was fully restored. Cannot say enough about Dr Farr and his associates. Highly recommend this practice.

I don’t usually do ratings, but after seeing a couple of 1 star reviews, I just had to comment on my own experience with Dr. Farr.
In 2018, just after Thanksgiving, I lost complete vision in my left eye. I was literally totally blind in that eye. Complete blackness… It was due to a detached retina. Dr. Farr told me that he couldn’t guarantee how much vision I would be able to get back, because of the damage, but he would try to do his best to help me. After his surgery, and many months of recovery, he was able to restore my vision back to 20/25!!! I will forever be grateful to him, and would absolutely, unconditionally, recommend him to anyone who has any retina issues. He literally gave me back my eyesight!!! I can’t say enough good things about him!!!

I was seen very quickly when I had my first vitreous gel detachment. I was followed closely until it was determined a few months later that there was no danger of anything else happening. I saw Dr. Garcia, who is unfortunately no longer there, but I would go back to them if I had any other problems occur.

My husband switched to Dr. Samiy and the Retina Institute after a couple years of terrible experiences somewhere else. We are so please with everyone, from the front desk, to the nurses, to the Doctor. The wait time is minimal, everyone is very kind and friendly, and the Doctor is skillful. We could not be more pleased. It's nice to be treated with respect and kindness for a change.

Hi, I want to provide the highest possible rating for Dr. Farr at the Retina Institute of the Carolinas. Unfortunately I have had to see Dr. Farr way too many times because of my stubborn retinas (retini?). Dr. Farr has performed 3 retina detachment procedures on my eyes, including an initial attempt to help the left eye self-heal by inserting a gas-filled needle into the eye. Dr. Farr has always been very helpful answering all of my questions (there were a lot in the beginning); he was and is so patient. His demeanor is always upbeat and positive, even when he had to deliver bad news that the gas bubble wasn't effective and I would require surgery to reattach the retina. All of the staff members at the Charlotte office (Randolph Road) have been amazing to work with and so patient. Dr. Farr is a busy guy, I'm sure he must be the best Retina Doctor on the East Coast. I don't know how they determine those things but I can't recommend Dr. Farr enough. I had another 2 year check-up yesterday and was happy to hear that everything is holding fine in both eyes. Sorry this is so long, but there's a lot to say. Yesterday was the first time my retina's were photographed with this new camera they have. Before, when i looked at images I can't say that I could see anything really that looked like a detachment - yesterday he showd me my images, which were clear except for the laser scars from the previous reattachments. I asked what an actual detachment would look like with this new camera and he showed me one, and it was obvious where the detachment was - so clear and obvious. This new camera or imaging machine is a great addition to the practice.
Finally - If you need Retina work done, Dr. Farr at the Retina Institute of the Carolinas should be your first AND ONLY call.
Thanks Dr. Farr for all of your help, patience and obviously great work. My retina (retini?) thank you!!!!!

Went there by referral and now I'm visually impaired and both doctors have left the practice! Now I've been given the run around trying to get my paperwork done and they keep passing the buck! I can't get my insurance or short term insurance because they won't comply 😕... …

I’m truly baffled by my most recent experience at this office with the Dr. Samiy & the nurse/tech. To start the nurse/tech did not appear to know how to operate the machine that scans your eye then proceeded to ask me if I knew where the freckle was and which way I should be looking. I stated it’s in the back and no I do not know where to look as the person taking the scan sets the dot and tells me to look at it. She proceeded to not use that feature of the machine and flashes my eye close to 50 times trying to figure out where the freckle was though my chart was infront of her on the screen. When the doctor comes in to do my ultra sound he seems to have no idea I’ve been coming every 6 months (this being my third visit with him) and confused on why I’m even coming in that often (he’s the person who instructed I come every 6 months). I stated I was referred to you because it tripled in size in 6 years and he makes a comment as if he doesn’t believe the referring doctor to which I responded they sent you the scans which you have looked at. He proceeded to say ok see you in 6 months though this freckle isn’t large. Truly annoyed and confused by the whole situation. You would expect a specialist office to have better trained nurse/techs and the doctor to understand the patient he is seeing and state an appropriate time if any of when someone should return for check-up. Visit ended feeling like he just said the 6 months to get a paycheck and get out the door. I will not be back and if your eye doctor refers you due to a growth in an eye freckle, I’d recommend you tell them to refer you to someone else.

My wife, Saida Khatri has been getting treatment from Dr Samiy for last 8 years. i must tell you, i have not seen other physician as helpful as Dr Samiy. Not only doctor himself but his staff and i mean everyone in their Rockhill SC office is very supportive i can name many but i want to mention Charmi young girl with outstanding ethics and helping nature. I recently had interaction with their Charlotte office with Emily and Brittany. Once again the result was OUTSTANDING.
Congratulations to entire team.
I will recommend this to everyone.

Dr. Farr is a specialist in eye Care, and is excellent at his work. He takes time to care for patients. The office staff is excellent also. The waiting room is comfortable. The building is a bit hard to spot because it is tucked between larger buildings on a busy Street. The parking lot is behind the building down a narrow alley right next to the building. The watchful as you enter it so you don't enter the parking lot for the next to the building.

I am so glad I found a different group to handle my macular degeneration. Besides the fact that this office messed up the insurance paperwork repeatedly and the office staff are all sullen, I suffered unnecessary pain with the procedures. The injection always hurt, and my eye burned for hours after the procedure. I could not wear my contacts the next day. Now I am with a different group, the shot is painless, and I have no irritation afterwords. I do not recommend this group AT ALL.
