Both of my natural lenses got baked as a result of laser retina reattachment surgery. This caused a rapid progression of cataracts in otherwise clear, healthy lenses. Within a year I was legally blind in both eyes. I couldn't read, I couldn't drive, I couldn't work. I could only see smears and blurs. I couldn't see steps to climb stairs. At 4 feet I could just barely distinguish how many fingers were sticking up on a hand, and that only in one eye. The ophthalmologist I was originally referred to was inattentive to my individual situation and concerns, and the staff was discourteous, disagreeable and more fixated on "getting the check"...both "Red Flags". I felt like I was being ram-rodded through a one-size-fits-all production line. It was not a pleasant or reassuring experience. Then I found Dr. Balok for a second opinion and my previous anxiety and apprehension were replaced with confidence and a realistic hope. Professionalism and meaningful dialog, not monologue, made a tremendous difference to me in quality of care. Doctor #1 just didn't care. The surgery went smoothly and at the "day-after" check-up when they took the protective eye-shield off, I could see 20/20, with crisp lines, profusions of color, grass blades, clouds, traffic signals, street signs, and even stars as points of light, everything I had been missing in a year of despairing blindness. I went from Blind to 20/20 in 1 day! It was like being born all over again. What a tremendous experience. Don't put your eyes in the hands of people you can't trust. You have a choice of Doctors, and that choice very much matters. Choose wisely. Choose Dr. Michael Balok, and see what you've been missing.

Dr. Balok and staff were both very efficient and personable. I was seen within 5 minutes of my appointed time. The time between the technician’s procedure and the doctors entrance was about 5 minutes. I’m a punctual guy and so I appreciate having my time respected. The equipment is state of the art compared to the clinic from which I transferred. I highly recommend the Riverside Clinic for the care of your eyes.

After 25 plus years of wearing glasses and contacts Dr Balok made it possible for me to get back my total vision. I have never been happier. Thank you so much Dr Balok for making this possible.
