Very terrible experience with Dr. Barakat. I came to him with some floaters and wound up 5 surgeries later, double vision, scereal buckle (extremely uncomfortable plastic device he sewed into my eye) and macular puckering which I will never be able to see anything I focus on out of the eye he worked on. I seriously question his financial motives bringing patients into surgery from Retinal Consultants of Arizona, especially since he is part owner of Spectra eye institute. I had to go to another surgeon to get my issues to come to an end.

My doctors were great. The staff however ruined my entire eye surgery experience. Everything was done last minute. There was no communication. Thank god I physically feel okay the day after surgery because the amount of extra stress they put on me from messing up my appointment scheduling really is the worst!!! Yesterday I waited 4 hours for surgery and today I showed up for my post op to find there were no doctors and that they gave me the wrong location AND time. I am from out of town and I had already checked out of my hotel. Would not recommend Spectra to anyone. If I could give them 0 stars, I would.

I am truly puzzled by the low reviews, few that there are. This place runs like a well-oiled machine and I'm always impressed. The times I have been here are for cataract surgery, and the way they do things make sense. Everyone with cataract surgery scheduled is there in staggering times and is seen accordingly. If there is any wait, it's just because there are so many of us baby boomers who need that procedure! Everyone is extremely friendly and helpful. It is fun for me to see all the same people who were waiting for their surgery the day that I had mine,the next day at the follow-up appointments! Now understand I am not wishing for a third eye so I could have another cataract surgery, but I do hope I will have reason to come to this place again in the future!
