Went for Cataract eval. "Perfect candidate for corrective lenses, NEVER need glasses again"! Nurse informed me ins. won't cover, but "$5, 200.00, it'll be worth it!" The $5200.00 turned out to cost almost $8,000.00!!! Could not see out of right eye after the procedure, needed Lasik surgery. No cost, however extremely painful, and no vision improvement! After "healing" for 3 months, with continued pain, light sensitivity, blurred vision and constant tearing, he wanted to do it again! I declined. So. He gave me an Rx for glasses ( which I also get to pay for) and the rest of my life with the afflictions above. Well, Dr. Cowden did a decent job on my IOL surgery (@ the Walker surgical clinic) but I was "waved off" to GRO-Rockford for the 'follow-up' (1+ hour drive) due to a prism issue(?) in my other eye. Got in Rockford a tiny bit late due to bad weather & traffic backups & was turned away as a late arrival - ugh! I previously gave GRO (Walker) 5 stars but was skeptical of the follow-up. Now they get 2 stars because the GRO 'group' is not a good fit for me or my wife (after "all was said & done"). Now, it's back to "shopping" for another place closer but thanks Dr. Tom! Oh well, live & learn, I guess!
