On Friday, 8-11-23, I visited with Dr. Ashley regarding recurring eye problems. She was thorough, friendly and so helpful; the staff as well. We had a problem with pharmacies, which the staff promptly solved. Thank you so very, very much. Who knows, you might just have prevented a big problem. Again, Thanks to all of You. I have always enjoyed my experience with Dr. Mercer. In 2022, I learned that my health insurance no longer covers the vision portion. I sought out a plan that had Tidewater Eye Center listed as in network. They explicitly had Dr. Mercer listed. I absolutely wanted to keep the same provider. When I arrived for my appointment, I was told that they do not accept vision insurance and they could only process thru my health insurance which doesn't cover the costs. I learned this with a $510 bill last year. I do not understand why you would have yourself listed as a provider on an insurance site and not accept vision insurance at all. This practice needs to do the work to remove themselves as a provider for Aetna.
