I accompanied my friend, who was the patient, for evaluation and treatment recommendations. Even though he can read and write English, Spanish is his native language. He underwent a minimum of five separate tests, each administered by a different staff member. Each employee, including the doctor, was able to explain the tests and results to him in fluent Spanish. This was greatly appreciated. Each employee we encountered was kind, gracious and knowledgeable. As other reviews state, testing is a long process, taking several hours, moving from room to room, but that is necessary to provide the patient with accurate results. This is a lovely facility, staffed by individuals who have the patient's best interest at heart. We could not have been more pleased with the treatment and professionalism shown us and look forward to our next visit. HIGHLY recommend.

Took my spouse to an appointment here. We were here for just under 5 hours. Spent about 5 minutes with the doctor. After he told my SO that he had a tumor on his eye we still had to wait 90 minutes just to get a picture of it taken. We feel like cattle. They don’t treat you like people here. Avoid this place if you can.

My entire visit was a positive one. The young lady that helped me with my testing was FANTASTIC! I'd give her many more stars if I could! She was wonderfully skilled at her job. She was polite, patient, knowledgeable about the procedures …

My eyesight is literally my living, and when I was stricken with a detached retina, they took me in first thing in the morning and began immediate treatment. I could not be happier with the professionalism and compassion of this organization. Dr. Bains and Dr. Patel have both provided me treatment so far and I'm impressed by their overall skills and attention to detail. I'm rather young to be getting this condition, but I know I am in good hands with these doctors and their very capable staff members. I would highly recommend them for any retina difficulties you may encounter.

Staff are very unprofessional. Be prepared to wait hours before seen by Doctor.
I was seen by a different Doctor than I made an Appt. with. Other than that facility was nice.

Doctor Bains and Patel are top tier. Very thoughtful and through. Wait times have improved . Typically I've been in and out in 1 1/2 hrs vs the 3hr waits as before.

I am not a patient just their ride, but they had an appointment for 2:15pm and they weren't seen until after 5:30pm.... the office closes at 5pm. If you cant see all patients during business hours and in a reasonable time.. maybe either hire more Doctors or schedule fewer appointments.

They mostly treat retired people so they are not in a hurry. If you get out of there within 3 hours you are doing good.
Don't prefer this place/doctors.
They treat you like your cattle. Move you in and get you out. Several peopl at a time. You can ask for a private room but that is inconvenient for them. It's all about how many they can give a shot to in a day.
You are NOT treated as an individual. If you can't do the shots then they don't know of any other way to treat you. If you have a complication from the shots they don't fix it.
Go somewhere else.

This place was terrible. Save your money and time! We were there for 3 1/2 hours to see a doctor for 5 minutes. Many people in the waiting room were 70 + and several in wheel chairs waiting just the same. I don't care what kind of degree you have...it is rude and inconsiderate to treat people in this manner. We will never go back!

This is an awesome practice. Everyone is very friendly. They are willing to work with you in any way possible to meet your needs. Waiting time in office is almost nothing. They quickly and efficiently move you from room to room to get your studies done. This is the best retinol facility in Tyler

If I could give negative stars I would. These doctors specifically Bains and Patel are the worst. If you value your vision, go somewhere else. Patel caused emergency glaucoma, delayed care and almost cost me not just my vision but my eye. I had nine total surgeries and still have no vision. Several of the surgeries were to correct errors from Patel and Bains. They do not treat you as a human being. They have a set script and cannot deviate from that script. They do not look at each patient and treat the patient based on their unique circumstances. These are not physicians just robots going through the motions. I will be following up with Texas Medical Review Board and filling a formal complaint.

Fit me in as an emergency patient. I had to wait a little bit, understandably. But, they spent A LOT of time running tests to eliminate possibilities, and find out what needed to be done for me. Amazing bedside manner! Took time to answer every one of my questions, and explained diagnosis in very good detail. Appt went past normal hours, but they NEVER rushed one bit. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!

Anyone going specifically to the longview location be aware that the parking area is terrible and very limited especially considering patients have problems witg their eyes, the office itself is always dirty especially their one unisex restroom. I am not a patient but a drive my parent to here appointment. It is always is overbooked, overcrowded and they are always rushed. If you are able go to the tyler location instead, its the same staff but the location makes the difference.

What a horrible place! 20 to 40 patients are given the same appointment time. You sit and you wait and you wait. You move from one room to another, receiving minimal attention. FINALLY, you see a doctor for all of 2 minutes. A total of 10 minutes of care - only 2 of those by the doctor - in a total of 2 hours and 15 minutes. They treat their patients like cattle and have as much regard for them. Absolutely unacceptable.

First time at this office. Arrived at 2 as instructed for 2:30 appointment. Staff extremely kind, friendly and helpful. Biggest drawback for me was that it took three hours to complete my visit. Only one doctor seeing patients, the other was in surgery. Suggest to patients to bring a snack or provide that for patients. Most of us are diabetic. Maybe a tv to take our minds off the long wait. Patients in lobby were all complaining. You might do well to bring in another doctor on staff. Shoutout to front desk attendant Candace—very helpful. Beautiful new building but I suggest working on patient wait time. Judy Smith

The facility is beautiful the nurses or techs are all super friendly and exceptional. They do shuttle you from room to room and waiting room to waiting room like cattle. I only saw the Dr for a total of 3 minutes. Not only did he only say maybe 3 words to me. Barely an introduction and tried to refuse greeting my adult son. He tried to tell me my vision has been this way for a long time and it's from wearing the wrong prescription. I DONT WEAR GLASSES so go figure on that one. Not worried about the sudden onset of being woke up feeling like I had been hit in the eye with a baseball bat. Was sent here because my regular eye Dr and the eye specialists at Lehman's told me it appears I had a stroke of the eye. This guy didn't care and when he did speak he was arrogant and rude! We finally ended up just leaving after being shuffled to about 3 more rooms and left in the back waiting area for more than 30 minutes. Save yourself some aggravation and go elsewhere!

My father received his last eye injection in early December, and his pain continued for several weeks afterward. He returned to the office on December 18 and was told that, due to the seriousness of his condition, he needed to see another specialist. Since that visit, we have been waiting for the referral paperwork to be sent. It has now been over a month, and his pain has continued throughout this time.
We have been calling the specialist’s office daily, and they are still waiting to receive the referral. This ongoing delay is extremely concerning, especially given my father’s age and level of discomfort. This is not an acceptable way to treat elderly patients, and we are left wondering what is happening with the referral process at this office.

Tyler Retina Consultants is an outstanding medical facility with fantastic doctors and staff led by Dr. Harshi Bains. I have been coming to Dr Bains since 2011(15 years). His care started as preventive care and some laser reinforcement - as I had a family history of retina detachments. In 2015 I did have a detached retina(partial). Dr Bains did the surgery and saved my vision in my left eye and I will always be grateful to him for that. I have been coming since then for exams and bi-monthly injections for macular degeneration. I have always been treated professionally with courtesy and never felt like I was rushed.
There are several google review negatives I read here about the excessive length of time for an office visit. In my experience this was originally true once in a while. Dr Bains was the only doctor in an older, small office and you could sometimes wait a bit. But when I heard people complain about that I would think/and sometimes reply “what do you have going on now that is more important than your vision?” Dr Bains now has four doctors including himself and a new (as of November 2022) state of the art medical facility. I have not had any type of long wait in years.
I went today for an 8am appointment. I got there at 7:40 and was called back at 7:45. I had the chart vision test, eye pressure test and dilation. I then went to the next room for the pictures to be taken. I then went directly to the doctor exam room for my eyes to dilate more. Dr Minaker did my exam. I then went to the injection room and he did my injection too. I was out by 9am- so all done by an hour from my scheduled time. Today I was cared for by Mallory, Christina, Anashia, Laura, Dr Minaker and some others whose name I didn’t get. All the care was excellent as it always is. Dr Patel is also a great doctor and I have not yet met Dr Luna-Lahaie but I’m sure she is excellent too.
Another very important thing that I would like to mention, and this is from 15 years of observation. Dr Bains is a very kind and compassionate man as well as superb doctor. I watched at the old office once as a man walked in and told the receptionist that he did not have insurance or the ability to pay, but he could not see out of one eye. She said we will see you anyways. Today I saw a man come in from the ER with his family. The receptionist said I will need your ID and your insurance information info IF you have insurance. This was again me seeing that this person in need was going to be taken care of even if he had no means to pay. I told Dr Bains once I appreciated him doing this, as I know it’s not always done. He told me that ‘service to others’ was one of the important tenets of his faith - and didn’t act like he was out of the ordinary to do this.
I am so very grateful to have such a good medical facility and caregivers led by Dr. Bains. I would highly recommend anyone going here if you need retina care and treatment!! You will not be disappointed.

We had a 9am apt and got out 1150am. The place is beautiful. Front desk gal didn't seem happy to be there. Got us checked and we waited. Went back and did all the test room to room. Wait... room to room. Visited with a lot of techs. Got to see the dr. A different one than we expected... he did not show us any photos or really explain much to us other than what I knew, he answered a few questions but talked really fast. Then we went to the treatment room where a different dr came in and did shots. All clients were in a line up. Like cattle for vaccine. Got to my mom and she let out a scream only second time in many years has that happened. I saw zero concern as he went on to the next dr. Now she is in so much pain. I will not be back in had concern from the beginning. They didn't even show us the exit.

You wait hours to be seen and then herded in like cattle. If you ask anything they become disgruntled. They swapped medication without prior Tricare West authorization. Then trying to get the billing department fix their mess is a joke. They try to bill as a point of service instead of getting Tricare authorization or claim you have other insurance when you only have Tricare Prime for Military Retirees.

Dr. Bains and Dr. Patel, along with their staff, are amazing. I had an emergency referral and they got me in the same day. I woke up completely blind in one eye. Turns out I had a severe eye bleed and the eyeball was collapsing in on itself. They thought I might completely lose the eye, but after treatments and surgery, we were ALL thankful that I'm able to see again. I don't have the greatest vision yet, but I'll need at least one more surgery, and I cannot thank them enough. I would recommend them 100 times over!!!!

I had took my daughter up there today for an appointment, her appointment was at 2:30, we were in the waiting room forever, and the we got her eye pressure checked and her eye pressure in her right eye, which is what we were sent from the er to there for, was at 25, the normal range is 10-21, we were then put in another waiting which was packed. My daughter has this spot in the waterline of her eye that started to spread, whenever we went to the er they said it was infected, well then the female who checked her eye pressure even said it was infected, so then the doctor finally comes in, only got to see him for about 5 minutes and he says that it’s not infected and that is was a pimple (which the er said different). This is the worse experience ever, the doctor did not even look at her eye, all he did was put a flashlight. This is the worse place, do not go here if you want your time wasted

Horrible experience. If I could leave a negative 0 star review I would. My Uncle had an appointment scheduled, my mother and I accompanied him, regardless of their appointment time they had to wait 2 hours to be seen and even then the doctor only briefly walked into the consultation room and left, he never came back because he had a "meeting" He acted with such a negative and arrogant attitude. It is unfortunate that a medical office created to help treats their patients with such disregard and provides such low quality service.

I hate this place with a passion. It’s not the doctors; it’s the system. It’s the absolute worst managed physician’s office I’ve ever experienced. Expect to be here 3+ hours and expect to actually see a physician for 2-3 minutes. The two physicians are so harried that you feel like you can’t even ask a question because they are in a rush to see the next patient. You’re nothing more than one cow in the herd waiting for your turn at the trough. The two doctors are indeed most capable. It’s the system that sucks. They simply have too many patients for one or two doctors. Either limit the number of patients you see or hire another doctor!!
