Patients can be seen by appointment only. Located on the ground floor of the Hoxworth building. You can expect the highest quality of care when you are seen in this department of UC Health. Waiting room is for both dermatology and opthalmology departments. There are times when your wait to be seen may be considerably longer than usual. Accepts most forms of medical insurance and has financial assistance for those who qualify.

I have been here 4 times to see the glaucoma specialist and so far even with iriodotmy being done I would say everyone is very friendly and I have made me feel comfortable. Yes they are busy with lots of patient but the have different specialties not just a general eye dr.

Would not recommend for eye care. Go anywhere but here. The physicians are great but the scheduling is beyond ridiculous. They say they'll call you back to schedule then just never call. Absolute garbage.

After my accident I went there 21 times in a row, every day, so I am an expert on these place.. You are guaranteed at least an half an hour wait, earlier the better later in the evening may be up to an hour.. Once you are seen, you are guaranteed a first class, examination, in my opinion, the best of the best.. but once you leave the examination room, and even still in the building and have another question that you forgot to ask..you will have to go back through the process again. You were seen, and now you are done . Never forget to make an appointment when you are there for your next visit, they will not answer the phone after 2 PM.. it’s best to call right when they open and don’t stop calling back until they answer. If you leave a message, they may or may not get back with you. It is not guaranteed. Just keep pestering. They are worth it once you get in. You will be seen by probably the best in the city along with students learning so you will get many different opinions. They saved my eyesight, so maybe I’m prejudiced.

Horrible service- Doctor got ‘sick’ and cancelled my appointment 10 minutes before I showed up with ZERO notice. And she rescheduled 4 months later.

This place is absolutely awful. To sit here and have to wait for over 2 hrs to be seen is ridiculous. The employees are rude and the residents are just as awful

Unfortunately a few days ago I experienced an eye trauma and was in the hospital in a different state. The hospital wrote me a referral to see ophthalmology. I called UC to get an appointment. They denied my referral and proceeded to give me an option to wait until August 2025 to be seen or call a different clinic. They stated they do not take referrals from other locations, including emergency rooms. I attempted to plead my case stating that my vision is deteriorating with no signs of improvement and they still stated I would need to wait or call elsewhere. I am no eye trauma expert, but my partner had a recent eye trauma and we spent some time at Louisville Eye Trauma and they were remarkable, prompt, and professional, very unlike this experience.
