Good optometrist (my reason for going here) and a clean new building, but the lack of stars is due to UCSF's performance as an expanding community snd primary care institution (and not a comment on its rep as a research and teaching hospital). UCSF is discouraging even brief and necessary patient - provider communication to make the doctor's every minute a billable one... Despite its public nature, UCSF appears as greedy as private "nonprofits" like Sutter!

I had an Extremely Stressful time with another appt. at 490 Illinois St. My first appointment was with Dr. Eng in April, in which she provided an entire check of my eyes. She then told me I would hear back from them in two weeks. I did not. …

My wife has ongoing eye issues, so she wanted to see a UCSF doctor to get the best advice. Her experience with the doctor was very reassuring and she was extremely satisfied with the visit. It was a relief to her that the doctor found her condition was not as bad as she was led to believe. I would suggest that you get good driving instructions before you go. We drove from Sonoma County and managed to get lost coming and going. We made it to the appointment just in time. We parked at a nearby parking garage. Leaving, it took about an hour to find our way out of a seedy side of SanFrancisco. The vision center is located very close to the Chase Center.

The medical professionals and personnel exhibit both friendliness and expertise. The valet attendants are exceptional and possess a great sense of humor. I have complete confidence in UCSF regarding all my health-related issues.

Beautiful new building, wonderful ophthalmologists, deducting 2 stars because if you have an urgent problem they don't accommodate same day or next day appointments. Also, if you call, you need to navigate thru so many options it takes forever to talk to someone.

Opened in November 2020, the Wayne and Gladys Valley Center for Vision in the UCSF Mission Bay campus, houses the Koret Vision Clinics which provides care in general ophthalmology, optometry primary care including prescription glasses and contact lenses, glaucoma care, cornea disease care, LASIK surgery, strabismus care, vitreoretinal disease care, neuro-opthalmology, oculoplastic surgery, ocular oncology, and optical shop services.

Honey this is a great place to come and get ur vision checked out and tell ur doctor if you're having problems with ur vision.

My experience trying to get an appointment with them is so opposite of the service I received at other UCSF facilities. I have VSP insurance but this practice requires a referral to even get an appointment for an eye exam. That is definitely not the approach you expect if they were to have a focus on patient care where you simply offer open appointments. I've had glasses for 40+ years, and yet I need a referral from another doctor for an updated eye exam. That is not a patient-centered approach.
