I’m so grateful to have Dr Smith as my Low Vision Specialist. The new building is wonderful and great for visually impaired people to navigate. I never have to wait long in the waiting area. The staff is excellent and Dr Smith is the best low vision optometrist ever!!!!

I was recently referred to the Vision Institute for a partially detached retina. Due to the seriousness, I was instructed to go to the office and they would fit me in. Everyone I met was incredibly kind and understanding. The detachment was quickly confirmed and surgery was scheduled the next day- on a Saturday. Dr. Durrani and his team were excellent. They somehow managed to make an overwhelming and scary situation, calm. I felt safe with them. Throughout my post op appointments, every nurse has been wonderful, kind, timely and attentive. Dr. Durrani has never rushed through any of the appointments. He has taken his time to thoroughly explain what has taken place and answered all of my questions. He’s wonderful at explaining what is happening in ways for you to actually understand. I’ve decided to switch retina specialists to Dr. Durrani permanently since I suffer from other retina concerns. I feel very blessed that I was referred to the vision institute and fortunate to now have Dr. Durrani and his team caring for me. Thank you!

I had emergency retina re attachment surgery on june5th by Dr Prensky and his team . Probably saved my vision in my right eye . They did a phenomenal job in anesthesia and the operating room , and a decent recovery . Obviously they have unlimited resources and equipment, that helps . The lack of 5 stars is not a clinical opinion . I would’ve given them the fifth star except that IN MY OPINION , upmc is very corporatey. They did great work , which d the biggest positive , but I kinda felt like I was at the chicfil a drive through. I was literally a number in the waiting room at my appts. Upmc no longer has a personal feel. No one really smiles and it’s all business. If the vision institute had even a little more personality it would be an amazing place to. Take nothing away from the ultimate result though , they do some amazing work there.

Dr.Depew is the best. So thorough, knowledgeable, and kind...Secretary Kim at the reception desk was of great assistance to me to the Oakland facility for my appointment. I mistakenly went to the new Vision Institute,my mistake! Kim was very instrumental in getting me squared away with Oakland, even though I was now late for my 2:00 pm appointment Dr.Emily Depew graciously accepted me, realizing and knowing I travel over 100 miles one way to get there. Thanks to all! Dr. Emily could not be surpassed! I wish there was more people like her...

Better like looking around the new building. Just spent two hours and still waiting for a follow up eye exam. Too bad parking is only free for first two hours……
