This was quite possibly one of the worst medical experiences in my entire life. My surgery ended up costing a lot more than I was originally told. It all began with the eye appointment that I was told would be $500 and turned out to be $900. I should have left then but I did not. The surgery itself was thousands more than I was told. I tried to pay before the surgery but was told that they did not have the right lens on my order. When the bill was available to pay (days before my surgery) it was over $1,000 more than was quoted and what I signed in my informed consent. It was explained to me that the person who gave me information was new and it was my problem and I could get my surgery that I needed, because I was almost blind, or go somewhere else and wait God knows how long. So I paid because I felt trapped. The day before my surgery I received a call telling me that I needed to be on the other side of the water even earlier than anticipated because they had not gotten all of the measurements they needed. This is where they began giving me drops that made the ones that I had to buy useless and a complete waste of money from their compounding pharmacy to get the drops they recommended. During the surgery the person next to me (a grown man) decided to start crying about the wait time and decided that he did not want his surgery so they took me back. Halfway through my procedure he must have changed his mind as they stopped my procedure. Took my back to a room without saying a word and left me waiting alone in the cold and dark for I do not even know how long to do his. Then they took me back and finished mine after his. I was told everything was paid for and I was done. Then I got another bill for $434 for anesthesia and my procedure consisted of my squeezing the ladies hand as tight as I could as they told me just hang in there we are almost done. I experienced issues post surgery where it felt like I got punched in the eye over a month after going in and telling them about the tightness so they kept on putting me on drops and saying "you're young and because of that you will experience more inflammation" but still charging me $75 every time (twice because that is all I can afford). Now I experience tightness, extreme light sensitivity that I did not experience before, and take preservative free eye drops because my eye dries out so bad that I can no longer use regular over the counter eye drops as my need for them exceeds the recommended dosage. None of these symptoms did I experience before my surgery. My $3,500 lens replacement has actually cost me thousands more than I was told, the bills keep coming, and they do not care and say well we are sorry. I do not know why everyone gets to get away with things by saying they are sorry. This would have cost me my job. Plus, I have had to sit in their offices for hours because of staff not being able to get to work because of the tunnel. I get it I have lived here my whole life but I was also told if you know you're going to be late then leave early. It just really gets to me how completely unapologetic the agency has been as they keep demanding money and it does not matter if they actually earned it or deserve but just because they say they are entitled and if I do not pay then your credit is destroyed. I work in the a field that uses informed consent. This lack of professionalism is unacceptable

I was very pleased with the evaluation process and how the nurses was very knowledgeable and professional in the process of evaluating and preparing me for my surgery. On the day of my surgery, there was an atmosphere that made me fill at ease and comfortable, and again the nurses was great. During the surgery; Dr Miller was very consoling, and very skillful in the process. Overall I was very pleased with my whole experience and recommend anyone to choose Virginia Eye Consultants for any or all their eye surgical needs.

I unexpectedly have a problem with an eye. I got a double-image effect. I was urgently assigned to Dr. Caterina Rachion. This doctor amazed me with her attentiveness, professionalism, and most importantly, with all her busyness, she devoted as much time to me as I needed and explained to me everything with great patience. She is an excellent doctor and has a beautiful team and assistant. I am very appreciative of this doctor and her assistant.
