Dr. Shutt is a great doctor. He is informative and will illustrate the issue, if need for my understanding. I have been his patient since he came to Waco. His nurses over the years have been friendly and do their job efficiently. The office staff are helpful. I had an infection recently and they scheduled me when he requested, for my follow-up appointments.

Most of the doctors are great. Very disappointed in the office staff. One of them I encountered while checking in for my appointment was very rude. I was not able to be seen for my same-day emergency appointment.

I had an 8:30am appointment and I promptly arrived ten minutes early for check in. By 9:05 am, I still hadn’t been seen to or checked on. Realizing that there was something amiss, I approached and asked the only attendant not on a phone, if Dr. Harkins was overbooked. To which I was greeted with a snarky rude response. It’s always disheartening to me to see health service providers become lazy and expectant regarding their practices. They forget that our relationship is a professionally reciprocal one, meaning I believe my time is as important as your time. When your process is this disconnected from your patient’s experience, it’s only a matter of time until buildings get sub-leased.

I was referred to Waco Eye Associates, but the receptionist was rude and not professional.

Dr Lui is by far the best Dr I could hope for. No one could ask for a better physician for their eye care.

Remarkably friendly medical staff! It was a real pleasure to visit here with my mother.

Dr Harkins did a wonderful job on my wife’s eye surgery. The rest of the process with waco eye associates sucked. Everything from sitting in the waiting area 1.5 hrs beyond our appointment time to them not running the surgery through our insurance. They chose not to run it through our insurance because they believed the insurance wouldn’t pay, even though the insurance told my wife they would depending on how the procedure was coded. It cost us over $6k dollars out of pocket. Then they said they said they provided us a post surgery kit. They did not. When I returned to ask for it, the ladies were very rude in telling me they’d given it to me. This was embarrassing in a full lobby. They finally found it sitting somewhere else in their area…they didn’t give it to me. If I ever have to have this procedure done, I’ll definitely go elsewhere, even if I have to drive out of town. Absolutely DON’T RECOMMEND THEM!

In my 30+ years of life I have Always been told I would Only ever wear glasses do to “severe stigmatism” by many many eye doctors over my life time. I do have pretty bad stigmatism but Doctor Liu and staff made one of my dreams come true today. Being able to wear contacts! Thank you to this caring and amazing team. You can Truly see and feel that you actually Love your job and it’s not just a paycheck for you. I pray many blessings upon you and yours. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS OFFICE.

Tried to get my glasses measured for the prescription I received. Did not understand what I was asking at all and then proceeded to find a way to charge me for that, and quoted 20 bucks. Never had that experience anywhere else. Won’t ever be back.

If you care about your vision don't go here. I have never left a review, I felt responsible to let others know,so they don't experience what I went through.I took a long time to decide whether to share with others about my experience. I can only speak for my experience. They cut the sac of fluid behind my eye while performing cataract surgery. Then they sent me to a retina specialist in Austin to perform surgery on the affected eye. They were awful and it was a horrific experience.. Traumatized . surgery to try to correct what had been done to m

on medicare, seeking 2nd opinion, was told $187 fee. (Medicare allows 2nd even 3rd opinions. Medicare.gov even same app on playstore states this.) Mgr trans call to billing, she said Mclennan county has courtesy dr to dr law so cant see you or wait 3 months, then she offered a month out office visit, and office will not accept refraction results from other dr so another 40$ Fee out of my pocket would be due. Other reviews say the doctors are good but the office staff isnt. I say find another dr. out of Waco. RUN DONT WALK.

Called to make appt at Waco eye assoc., for grandfather to be seen. Told them he went to Brazos eye clinic, got cataract surgery, weeks later was still blurry. Returned to them, they seen nothing wrong in the exam, however, vision is still blurry in both eyes. Went to different doctor, Central Tx eye clinic. Got one eye done over. Now calls go to answering machine. Left message at least 3 separate times. No call back. Lucky enough for them to answer phone, made appt, said they will call back with surgery date and time (normal procedure) NO CALL BACK. Not a problem with procedure or doctor, just a hard time scheduling. NOW I’ve called Waco Eye Assoc, they will now see him since he’s seen other doctors. OMG!!! It’s not like we didn’t try to return to the doctor that did the surgery. They just will not answer phones or return calls!! What’s one to think?

Dr. Harkins was great! He answered all of my questions, was pleasant and professional. I had difficulty scheduling my appointment however. I was 6 weeks postpartum after gestational diabetes. I was referred by my OB due to flashes in my peripheral vision. The office told me I had no medical reason for an exam, they don’t accept vision insurance and I would have to pay out of pocket for my appointment. I had my doctor resend the referral indicating the medical reasons for my visit and gave my medical insurance information. On the day scheduled, I paid my co-pay and sat uncomfortably, forced to listen to the front office staff loudly complain about the patients until my appointment time. A month later, I received a bill for the full amount of my visit indicating no medical reason for my exam. I decided not to schedule the follow up visit recommended by Dr. Harkin. Disappointing experience.

I can’t say enough about the tremendous service and treatment received from Dr. Charlie Schlecte, III. After suffering with cataracts for too long, I can now see clearly again! Dr. Schlecte was very caring, always courteous, answered all my questions, and made me very comfortable with the process. I highly recommend him and am so glad I found him. And, thanks to his nurse, Linda, for her attention, as well.

Dr John Liu is a 5 Star Doctor! Highly recommend him! HOWEVER, as other reviewers have mentioned the staff are uninterested, unprofessional and unfriendly. I actually complained to Dr Liu at my visit but he appeared not to believe me.

Well I would rate lower but no ability... my father who had eye surgery came in for his followup appointment at 1:05 for a 1:45 appointment. Signed in like always and sat down with me to wait. 30 minutes later he went back up to the window and asked if anything was up that he has signed in and was still waiting, response from office staff "sign in and wait." Now it has been an hour and it is after 2:00 he goes back up to the window and asks the same office staff person was there a problem. Oh all of a sudden she has been looking for him...REALLY!!!!! If you want a good doctor Dr Liu is great he was my doctor when I lived in Waco BUT his office staff are some of the worse. Just be warned if you want to get seen stand at the window and keep asking or they will let you sit in the waiting room till the doctors leave for the day.

Dr. Harkins is my doctor and I am very satisfied with him & his assistant. However, the matter of the women at the front ck in/ck out leave something to be desired. I am not saying all of them but there are two that never smile & they seem like it's a bother you are there. Really makes one want to turn around and walk out! They seem to have A frequent turnover at the front desk.

My wife went to get a diabetic eye exam as recommended from her primary dr... We have insurance and paid just like everyone else. The front staff was really friendly and helpful but once we got into the room the Dr. Was very unprofessional, made comments about her tattoos and piercings that is none of his concern.We went for an exam and thats what she should have recieved nithing more nothing less...talk about being profiled! I dont recommend this plce to anyone.

Dr. Rolfsen was highly recommended to us. He was very friendly and professional. He answered all questions that we had and we did not feel rushed at all. The surgeries were a complete success. We highly recommend him. Robin Miller Woodway, Texas

Dr Shutt is kind, explains things in detail, listens to your concerns and his nurse is straightforward & knows her job well. I highly recommend Dr Shutt to anyone needing an eye doctor.

Very pleased with Dr. Harkins, however, the clinic does not know the meaning of Customer Service. Was told I had and appointment for cataract surgery and when I called to confirm the appointment I was told I did not have an appointment and advised someone would call me. Never received the call. Had to cancel appointment for eye measurement due to illness. I was rescheduled for that appointment but no one said the surgery could not be done within two days prior. Made several inquiries and was told each time someone would call me. Called the office again today and could not be sent to Dr, Harkins off due to meeting. Front desk staff finally confirmed I did not have an appointment for surgery. I have grown tired of all the run around,s so I canceled the appointment and will seek another ophthalmologist to review the situation and proceed from there. Very very disappointed with the clinic overall and will certainly not recommend any one to use this clinic.

Dr. Harkins was professional and met with me more than once due to my concerns. I had a little more difficult cataract surgery due to having RK and Lasik in my past on the same eye. He put in a new toric multi-focal lens. I am so happy with the outcome and my new vision. Can't wait to have the other eye done by Dr. Harkins.

Have been going here for several years. Dr. Shutt is wonderful. Always answers my questions, is friendly, and takes the time to listen to me. Will trust them with my eye care for many years to come!
