When I became disenchanted with the experiences with my previous Ophthalmologist, I decided to switch to Dr. Jeffrey Wong at the Honolulu Eye Clinic at Queen's Hospital (annex). I was immediately pleased by the efficient, professional, caring staff and the modern facilities. Having enjoyed better than 20/20 vision for most of my life, I was sad that my vision was slowly deteriorating. Dr. Wong and his staff provided a thorough examination o my eyes and suggested that prescription glasses would sere me temporarily and that, ultimately, I was a good candidate for laser cataract surgery. At my last regular appointment, Dr. Wong suggested it was time to for me to agree to the cataract surgery. Yesterdy, I appeared at the Hawaii Eye Surgery Center's modern clinic at 06:30 AM for the initial left eye laser cataract procedure. The staff at the Center were all caring professionals who explained and guided me through every phase of the procedure. This is not to say that it was a pleasant experience, but the discomfort was relatively minor. I left the Center two hours after arrival. Dr. Wong performed the laser and surgical processes brilliantly. When I went to bed that night, my vision was still a bit cloudy from the eyedrop medication and the procedure, but when I awoke this morning I experienced a minor miracle - I had regained the vision of my youth - everything was bright and in sharp focus. In less than two weeks, Dr. Wong will operate on my right eye and I will have see like I haven't seen for a couple of decades! If you are nervous about having cataract surgery, know that most people are, but those who are willing to tolerate a few minutes o slight discomfort are rewarded with the gift of clear sight. Looking for a superb ophthalmologist? Look no further - make an appointment with Dr. Jeffrey Wong at the Honolulu Eye Center!

Dr. Wong's staff is excellent, efficient and caring. Dr. Wong is caring, patient, and explains things in a way that you will understand. My vision was starting to get a bit fuzzy, which because I have Multiple Sclerosis and Diabetes was not a surprise, but I thought maybe it was time for glasses. What I found was that I had specialized fast growing cataracts in both eyes. Dr. Wong explained that I could safely wait until they were interfering with my daily living or hobbies. Being a photographer I was terrified about having surgery on my eyes, so I put it off because they didn't seem to be getting worse. Then suddenly, months later, I realized that I was basically functionally blind in both eyes. When I finally went back to Dr. Wong, he was totally reassuring. He asked which eye I used most for my photography, and within days I could see out of that eye perfectly. Because of timing, I haven't yet been able to do the other eye, but am hoping to get it done this month. I would HIGHLY recommend Dr. Wong. At 61 I have had many doctors in my life. He is one of the best.
