Dr. Drey is a graduate of the University of Iowa and earned his Doctor of Optometry Degree at the Illinois College of Optometry. He has a post- doctorate residency certification in primary care and ocular disease from the Illinois College of Optometry/Illinois Eye Institute.

Dr. Drey's special interests include: contact lenses/primary eye-care, glaucoma, uveitis, and diabetic eye-care. Dr. Drey earned his Fellowship for the American Academy of Optometry in 2012. He is an active member of the Illinois Optometric Association, American Optometric Association, and the American Academy of Optometry. He also partners with Lasik Plus to co-manage patients in refractive surgery.

Dr. Drey’s passions include diabetic eye care. Being diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at age 5, inspired him to become an eye doctor and help care for patients with the disease.

Dr. Drey, with his wife Michelle and daughter Emerson, participate annually in the JDRF One Walk in Chicago, which raises money for research in type 1 diabetes. He also participates in T1d Exchange, a unique non-profit organization focused on driving faster, better research to improve outcomes in type 1 diabetes.
