Dr. Gregory Pappas is the managing partner of SoLo Eye Care & Eyewear Gallery with several locations in the Chicagoland area. Born and raised in Orland Park, IL, Dr Greg attended Marist High School on the South Side of Chicago. As a student athlete, he played collegiate hockey for Loyola University Chicago while graduating with degrees in biology and economics.

Outside of optometry, Dr. Greg continues to feed his competitive side by participating in softball and hockey leagues. You may also find him on the golf course during the summer months. Dr. Pappas also holds a passion for traveling domestically and abroad. To date, he has been to 15 national parks and hopes to one day cross them all off the list.

Dr. Pappas earned his Doctorate of Optometry degree from the Illinois College of Optometry. While at ICO, Dr Greg held office as Class Representative and served on executive boards for the Student Illinois Optometric Association and Sports Vision Club. Dr Greg was recognized for several awards during his tenure at ICO, highlighting his dedication to the profession and advancement of Optometry. 

Dr. Greg was introduced to Dr. Robert Steinmetz in 2006, when Dr. Bob donated specialized sports vision contact lenses to the Marist High School Varsity Baseball team. Later, their mentorship began after Dr. Greg suffered a hockey related eye injury. Dr. Greg shares Dr. Bob’s love for fashion and sports and joined the SoLo team in 2011. He continued working at SoLo throughout his academic career and concluded his optometric training working side by side with Dr. Bob at SoLo Eye Care & Eyewear Gallery. 

Dr. Pappas is an active member of both the American Optometric Association and Illinois Optometric Association. He holds special interests in myopia management, hybrid lens technology, and sports vision therapy. He has been featured as the primary author on posters with anterior segment specialist, Dr Louise Sclafani, and has published articles supporting and protecting private practice optometry.
