Lauren Dhar, MD – Biography
Lauren Sielert Dhar, MD received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in French upon graduation with special distinction from the University of Oklahoma, Norman, Oklahoma. During her undergraduate studies, she was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa honor society and was honored as an outstanding student for excellence in the areas of scholarship, character, and leadership through Big Women on Campus. While obtaining her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine in Oklahoma City, she received the Podalirian Award, bestowed upon an individual who shows commitment to University, community service, and the team approach to medicine while acting as an advocate for patients and fellow students.
Dr. Dhar completed her ophthalmology residency at the State University of New York (SUNY) Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York. Her keen interest in the medical and surgical management of glaucoma led her to complete a glaucoma fellowship at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, California. After fellowship, Dr. Dhar joined the faculty at the Krieger Eye Institute at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore where she cared for complex glaucoma patients in addition to teaching resident physicians cataract and glaucoma surgeries. She also served as the Director of Medical Student Education. As a member of the American Glaucoma Society, Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology, and member of the American College of Surgeons, Dr Dhar continues to strive for excellence by teaching, educating, and publishing.
After many years of living on the east and west coasts, Dr. Dhar is ecstatic to call Texas home. In her spare time, Dr. Dhar likes to cook, exercise, listen to records, sing, and learn guitar, read short stories, and spend time with family and friends.
