I have posted reviews on many internet sites for years and never give below 4 stars, usually 5. If I didn't like something I let it go. I am posting this review as a public service, so no one ever has to go through what this office and this doctor put me through. Too long a story, but to summarize: I had my vision history sent to them as requested, they lost it twice ("the girl whose email it went to here goes home early so we can't get in to see it") but still charged me $1500 for the office visit. Scheduled surgery three months ahead. They insisted a pre-op covid test could be done only at a UCLA facility. I found the facility near me and the week before surgery (scheduled for Jan. 10) I started checking there to see if the test was ordered. It never was. Every day for a week I would call the test place and be told order was never called in and I called the doctor's office every day asking them to order the test. The office kept saying doctor was "hard to reach". What? Time running out, I called UCLA switchboard. "That doctor is on vacation until next week." Office lied every time I called. My surgery was for Monday. Still no test order by Friday. I called testing place that Friday begging to come in. They said "Your surgery is cancelled. The office cancelled it". Nobody called me or told me. Monday came, no call from them. I finally reached them. They said all surgeries were cancelled that day because there was too much covid in the building, though they never told me it was cancelled. If I hadn't called the test place I might have just shown up for surgery. I felt so bad for them re covid I wrote a nice email wishing them good health, asking them to reschedule me asap. The three months of waiting for that surgery had me change my flights to Europe and postpone my work, had me nervous about eye surgery for weeks as you can imagine, had me change my entire year's schedule. But ok. I stared calling to reschedule in February. "Oh, we're all booked up until May". What? Shouldn't I be put in early as my surgery was cancelled one day before? "I'll have a scheduler call you." Scheduler calls me and says, "Oh. You're the girl we cancelled because you didn't get a covid test". I said, "Were other surgeries cancelled that day?" She said, "No. Why would you think that?" I have to tell you, not only was this office inept, uncaring, careless, rude, and dishonest, but every time I called I was just rudely brushed off. If you go and look up current reviews for the Jules Stein eye center you will see the exact same facts I have just written here. Something is wrong there. The people working the desks should not be there. My entire year was disastrously scrambled due to the dishonesty and inefficiency of this office. I finally got great eye surgery from Dr. Luke Deitz, who saw me two months before surgery and insisted on seeing me again the week before to check on any changes. Dr. Velez saw me once without my eye history, and was going to just fly back from vacation three months later without ever seeing me again and just cut into my eye. This doctor is not dedicated to your health and well being, and his office people are people you would hope never to come across in your life. I am not a complainer. I don't give bad reviews. I am telling you: AVOID.

My husband has been a patient of Dr. Stephens since he was 18 years old and is 35 years old now. We moved out of the valley to Lancaster which is about 40 to 45 minutes away, but he still drives down to only see Dr. Stephens. Being he has a rare eye condition and not many places know how to treat it. But this is definitely the place to go for any eye problem or if in need of glasse , contacts etc.

Awful. The first time I saw them they were over 30 minutes late. Yesterday, they took an hour to NOT show up. I sat there with 4 other people. One of which was an older lady who begged the office next door to call Glendale Eye. A different business that this other office has nothing to do with. The older lady was self conscious of her english so I felt bad. It had been an hour, and I was in the boat so I called. I was then informed that they would not be in until July 15th. Please let that sink in. If this was the case, why oh why did they have my appointment on the 8th? Why are there 3 other people here waiting for the very same office. I was then told that there was no record of my appointment. Well. How the heck do I have a little appointment business card that states 7/8/2020. I took time off of work. I was not informed of any schedule changes. There are plenty of eye doctors in the area to choose from. Go somewhere else! I will give a star for the person on the phone who was really professional about looking into thw situation. She offered to reschedule me. Very nice that but doesnt change or make up for the fact that this company is horribly disrespectful of the time of the patients. Also. See below for my appointment card as evidence.

Extremely unhappy with Dr. Jeannette’s service. She was extremely rude to my mother when she took my grandmother to her exam. My mom was just trying to explain the situation that my grandmother can’t differentiate when asked if she can see better with her eye exam. Definitely not coming back and don’t recommend anyone to come get their exams done here. Unprofessional with my mother rude, and not kind at all towards her. At least she was nice to my grandmother. This doctor doesn’t seem to acknowledge that my mother is her caregiver and was just trying to explain the situations of my grandmother. She even kicked my mom out when she had to answer a phone call from work. 0 stars if I had the option.

YIKES!! I wish I had read these reviews before going! While the receptionist and manager were very kind, the optometrist was so very mean and rude to both myself & my 6 year old daughter. We arrive on time and waited 30 minutes to be seen. When we were finally called on we were seen into a room where the optometrist and Manager were standing there gossiping and complaining about a previous guest. When the optometrist finally came into the room she didn’t introduce herself or say sorry for the wait or anything. the first thing she went with was “did I say the name right?” …yes… “I was screaming your name, you didn’t hear me?” ….I did hear you… she starts tutting. So weird. “Oh usually when I call a name the person typically responds.” I didn’t know what to say. What a strange introduction to someone you’re trying to get business from. She then proceeds to treat my daughter like she doesn’t understand basic things and with every question my daughter asks she doesn’t give an honest reply or explanation. Pretty much with the attitude that she’s just a dumb kid. It hurt me a little. She then told me (before any exam) that she believed my daughter was “over exaggerating” her vision problems. She tries to get my daughter to agree to the idea that she just “wanted glasses to be cool”. My daughter was like “uhhhh…yeah sure.” Man, this lady is horrible and shouldn’t be around kids at the very least. My daughter did end up having astigmatism after all that and “doctor” gave her a prescription. We were made to feel inferior and unwelcome. Please don’t take your children here. :(

Terrible. I had my sight checked and the doctor gave me one prescription wich was very strong. I came back for a second check up and it was stronger in one eye and lower in the other one. I still don't feel the glasses are appropriate for my needs and they put the expiration date of the guarantee a month before!!!!!! And i still had a month left of guarantee. Bad service and dishonest doctor. Im not coming back there.
