Dr. Jeffrey Kalt and his highly skilled staff, are assuredly the "best recommendation" I could ever give to anyone, because they always provide superior care for every patient. Dr. Kalt attended to me with phenomenal precision and expertise performing cataract surgery to both my eyes. My post op experience was: No pain, No discomfort, No redness, No sleeplessness, No regrets, No noticeable swelling. The day of surgery and post op visit I experienced excellent vision and can see clearly for the 1st time in my entire life. Thank you Dr. Kalt, my wife & I will always remain your grateful and faithful patients.

Hi, I'm a patient of Dr. Kalt, I had a car accident in June of 2020 and had a dark shadow in my right eye from the airbag. Dr. Kalt checked me out and quickly saw that I had a detached retina. He referred me to the Beaumont Retina center and the great doctors there. I had surgery for the detached and torn retina which can cause cataracts or make existing ones worse. Yesterday Dr. Kalt performed cataract surgery, a more complicated procedure in an eye that had recent retina and macula damage recently. The procedure was done at Truvista Surgery Center in Troy. The staff there was friendly, courteous, and respectful towards me and Dr. Kalt was very meticulous and detail oriented during and after the surgery. I had a follow up with him today and I'm doing better than expected. I'm looking forward to having him do the other eye soon, I would recommend Dr. Kalt to anyone considering cataract surgery!

I had cataract surgery on both eyes in July. I can now read without glasses for the first time in years. I have had such a good experience I wanted anyone with any trepidation to know that Dr. Kalt is a perfectionist and it shows in his work. The outcome could not have been any better.
Dr. Kalt did a cateract operation on my husband ( a diabetic) and , again, the outcome was stellar. Dr. Kalt, his staff, Truvista, and everyone was great. I couldn't be happier !

This doctor is amazing! From the first moment that I have dealt with him over 7 years ago, he has proved himself to be unbelievably talented, and extremely caring. I have recommended him to so many of my friends who have eye issues because I so believe in everything that he does. My favorite doctor ever!

I enjoy this office and Dr Ruby. Everyone is nice , efficient and polite. They make sure you understand and know exactly what is going on during your treatment. Most importantly they actually listen to your concerns and properly answer them. You're not treated as a number but as a familiar patient. Thank you Dr Alan Ruby and his supporting staff.

Manzo Eye Care
My family first saw Dr. Manzo over 25 years ago. Several of us had special eye issues. He was excellent then. Eventually we all had to switch ophthalmologists due to location. Many of my adult children are again in his area, and when my now 40 year old daughter had an eye emergency I suggested she contact his office. She was given a quick appointment. I went with her and could not believe it, but he remembered our cases from all those years earlier. He is still an excellent doctor and very caring. He completely explained all of my daughter's issues to her, in a way that she could understand (she is autistic). I will always recommend his practice.

Manzo Eye Care
Dr. Manzo and his staff are highly professional. I wouldn't trust my eye/vision care to anyone else. He is reassuring and he explains procedures with easy-to-understand terminology for a layman like me without sounding superior. Having said that, he is very knowledgeable and up-to-date on the latest technology. I completely trust Dr. Manzo to perform any procedure he deems necessary and appropriate for me and members of my family.
The only negative aspect of a visit to Dr. Manzo's office is the wait time. But, this seems to be the nature of the business. He provides many interesting books for patients in the waiting room and his staff is so pleasant it's hard to dwell on the wait time.
I must add that Dr. Manzo has been available for me on several occasions when I have had a vision problem outside of office hours. He has been most willing to call on the phone personally to advise me. And, when necessary, fit me into his busy office schedule at short notice.
I would recommend Dr. Manzo in a heartbeat to anyone for their eye/vision care.

Wowsers. The Manzo team is awesome. I'm new to the area and broke my reading glasses so I just went here because it's practically next door to my office, and I am very glad that I did. They took my insurance (Aetna for both medical and eye care) and I ended up with a much better pair of glasses (both in quality and correctness for my vision issues) for less than I paid five years ago in my former city. Plus, I was able to get a same day appointment, the doctor was extremely thorough and she explains what she is doing in layperson terms. They have a large selection of options for frames and the entire staff appeared knowledgeable and extremely helpful. Very satisfied from start to finish, I can't think of anything to improve, which is unusual for me! Very strongly recommend!

I was welcomed as soon as I walked in the door. I appreciated the time spent to help me pick the right frames for my new glasses. When I returned to pick them up I was helped right away and she even helped fix the screw on my old glasses. Very friendly staff and the doctor was great during my exam and helping me find contacts that work with the changes in sight I’ve had in my forties. Wonderful experience overall.

We must be glutton for punishment, I swear, and this time I’m really swearing! This is our third attempt at showing OptimEyes the love, and it’s becoming increasingly clear that we’re going to have to cut our losses.
First there was the time in 2017 at the Southfield facility when we ordered a new prescription for an older frame and the glasses were returned to us looking like they’d been through a lawn mower—with no explanation! The temples were chewed up to the point they couldn’t be fixed. But we loved the employees, and they arranged for a new frame at their cost so we forgave and forged ahead.
Then along came the new Royal Oak facility. We were in awe of the new building, not to mention the location was just down the street from our home. Turns out we liked the group of people working there even more than the Southfield branch. Everyone was great. Sadly, the greatness ended there. Our experience was nowhere near great. We went in to get our daily prescription and computer prescriptions updated. After three eye exams for me, they refunded our money for my computer glasses as the lab just couldn’t get the Rx right. Never mind the original pair of lenses I’d purchased was made by OptimEyes back in 2017! We decided against writing a negative review because once again, we really liked all the employees. While everyone was really good; Kamal, Jim, and Q, were outstanding.
So, it was with some trepidation we decided to give Royal Oak another try this month (December 2023), and our experience was less than satisfactory once again. In fact, this one was right up there with our experience in 2017.
That said, as before, everyone with whom we worked was cheerful, friendly and helpful, and the eye doctor was very professional and instructive. BUT—who would think that I would walk into an eyeglass store with near mint lenses (replaced a year ago in 2022), and walk out only to find that my lenses were badly scratched!! We were gobsmacked.
To set the record straight, the scratches were not Jim’s fault. He never handled my glasses. The glasses were handled by others, but I doubt we’ll ever know how this happened. And it isn’t like there was a little scratch here and there. There were actual abrasions in a few places with both vertical and horizontal marks on one of the lenses.
I hadn’t planned to replace these lenses so was stunned when I saw this upon cleaning them before bed. Thankfully, the scratches don’t seem to interfere with my vision or that would have been even worse. Making this situation all the more puzzling, is the fact that my husband, who purchased his new glasses and lenses with all the same protective coatings at the same time I did in 2022, had the top of a recycling bin come down on his head throwing his glasses off onto concrete on not one, but TWO occasions and has nary a scratch on his lenses after both incidents!
In all fairness to OptimEyes, we haven’t had the opportunity to speak with their manager, Kamal, so I plan to return here to update my review once we do. We have three orders on the books with OptimEyes right now, but are going to pull one of the orders for replacement lenses since my husband is concerned about leaving his beloved 1980s Oliver People’s frame in their “care.”
At this point, despite the great employees and location, we’re hard pressed to see ourselves returning in the future, and we can’t even feel good about that. :(
UPDATE: since writing my review above we sat down with this location's manager, Kamal, a man who impressed us a year before he'd been promoted to manager.
Once again, Kamal, proved the many reasons he was promoted. He's smart, empathetic, and kind. In one sitting, he gave us his word and reassurance that he is working hard to improve the customer experience at this facility. We know he can do it, now we will see. I will update my review again with news of the outcome.
