Jonathan Leon Rosen, MD
Completed his General Surgery Internship at Mt. Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach. He then went on to complete an Ophthalmology residency, and Oculoplastic fellowship training at the world renowned New York Eye and Ear Infirmary under the tutelage of Drs. Robert and David Della Rocca. He continued at New York Eye and Ear Infirmary following his fellowship as a Voluntary Assistant Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology with responsibilities that included clinical and surgical training of residents within the General Ophthalmology and Oculoplastics divisions.
Dr. Leon Rosen has practiced in South Florida for the past 10 years in both General Ophthalmology and Oculoplastics. He has also worked in the United States Virgin Islands for the past 4 years on a monthly basis. Dr. Leon Rosen has been principal in re-developing the Surgical Service of Plessen Ophthalmology in St. Thomas, USVI, following Hurricane's Irma and Maria. His time in the USVI has also yielded additional skills in Advanced Medical Glaucoma Management and Micro-Incisional Glaucoma Surgery (MIGS) as he has worked closely with Dr. Kevin Stewart, a renown glaucoma surgeon in the Caribbean.
Dr. Leon Rosen started Reina Eye Care in May of 2019
He brings with him experience in treating many types of oculoplastics moribidities including thyroid eye disease, dermatologic pre-malignant and malignant lesions of the eyelids, orbital lesions, neurologic deficits of the cranial nerve system, functional and anatomical deficits of the nasolacrimal system, ocular surface reconstruction for trauma and autoimmune patients, as well as functional eyelid deficits such ptosis, ectropion and entropion/trichiasis of the eyelids, including reconstruction of previously operated eyelids. Given his Reconstructive Surgery training, Dr. Leon Rosen is also well versed in Cosmetic/Aesthetic procedures such as Botox, Fillers and Cosmetic Upper and Lower Lid surgery. Additionally, Dr. Leon Rosen continues to clinically and surgically treat non-oculoplastics ocular morbidities including cataracts, pterygium, glaucoma, dry eye/keratoconjunctivitis sicca, diabetic eye disease, and macular degeneration.
Dr. Leon Rosen is a Board Certified Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology in 2009
In 2017, Dr. Leon Rosen received the “10 Best Corrective Eye Surgeons in Exceptional and Outstanding Patient Service Award by the American Institute of Medical Professionals. He is on staff at Mercy Hospital in Miami, as well as Roy Schneider Regional Medical Center and Juan Luis Medical Center in the US Virgin Islands. Dr. Leon Rosen is also a member of the Memorial Hospital System (MHS) and provides emergency call services for MHS. Dr. Leon Rosen is fluent in English and Spanish.
