Dr. Mona Sood was born and raised in Chicago. She attended the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana and graduated with honors in Biology and Chemistry, before heading off to the School of Optometry at University of California in Berkeley to complete her doctorate.

Dr. Sood has extensive experience in all aspects of eye care including complex contact lens fittings, ocular disease treatment and surgical co-management. Her thorough knowledge and experience in ophthalmic optics has continually helped patients in their comfort and design of their eyewear and contact lenses.

Dr. Sood’s passion for vision and eye care began over 20 years ago during a volunteer experience in India, helping women and girls at a school for the blind. This experience and interest in medicine led her to pursue a Doctorate in Optometry. Dr. Sood continues to volunteer her time to reduce avoidable blindness across the globe. Most recently, she joined the VOSH team in Guatemala to provide exams and eyewear to over 1500 patients.

As an avid tennis player and a former Division I collegiate athlete Dr. Sood knows first-hand how important it is to have good eye sight. She continues to stay active with triathlons, tennis and swimming. In her free time she enjoys traveling, cooking, entertaining and above all spending time with her husband and three children.
