I never thought to get an eye exam at Meijer & went in with low expectations. Dr. Elam was amazing! Super friendly, thorough, and able to easily answer all of my questions. I usually jump doctor to doctor based on who can see me first or cost, but I think I’m sold! I will definitely be back to see her again! 🤓 …

Recently was at Fort Gratiot Meijer optical. Dawn ( staff)was excellent. Loved the frames she suggested. Very knowledgeable!

I didnt have a chance to go yet because who ever closed the store today.( Saturday 4-8-23) freaked out on me. When she told me that the doctor is only there on Wednesdays I laughed and said, well that's weird. Immediately she yelled " Maybe you should just go to Lens Crafters" and hung up on me! WTH??? She needs anger management and a course in professionalism. I'm going on Monday to speak to her manager because that's just not acceptable. Crazy is the word that comes to mind.

BEST experience I’ve ever had at an eye appointment. They called me to schedule (referral from my PC doc), and followed up with a reminder call the day before. Staff was really friendly, introduced themselves, explained everything that was going to be done. I didn’t even have the chance to sit down before I was called. My previous eye doc’s office was a disaster: they ran 1-2 hours late every time, despite having a dozen doctors and staff running all over.
Riverside Eye Center’s office itself was super clean but not antiseptic, rather just well-maintained and very professional. And no blaring televisions, which is a huge pet peeve of mine in doctor’s offices. I was referred to Dr. Matthew Hulst, one of 5 docs in the practice. He is a GREAT guy, soft-spoken and totally attentive to our conversation and what the films indicated. Answered all of my questions, didn’t rush. Just one of those genuinely kind persons you don’t see enough of in medicine. He (and his assistant , also fantastic) both took the time to review a brief video that I had clipped along with the online preregistration forms. I felt it would be helpful to understand concerns pertaining to my eyes. I was stunned that they had taken the time to review it.
By the way, I’m VERY picky about medical doctors and have walked away from several. That I can write this review of Dr. Hulst and his team is a pleasure.
They have a patient for life.

This was my first visit and I was really pleased. I felt listened to and everyone was very nice. Dr. Hulst was confident and not pushy and I didn’t feel rushed. It was a great visit!

Marissa is Awesome and it was fun to choose new frames with her. Joanie is so cute. The front end staff is amazing. The tech was thorough and I would recommend this office to everyone. Previously my family utilized a prominent Eye Doctor in the area but the office staff were difficult to deal with....not sure why I didn't make the switch sooner. The doctor was incredibly thorough and efficient. Kudos Riverside Eye Care.

Professional AND personable technician listened to my concerns and clearly replied to my questions , shared results of tests, AND communicated with personable understanding that is appreciated by those of us who remain isolated to avoid covid-crud.
Her eye contact, clear tenor and pace of speaking is appreciated because wearing hearing aides with a mask in not easy or sensible. When removing a mask the hearing aides become caught and fly out...often lost.

I was fortunate to select Riverside Eye Clinic to perform my cataract surgery. Between Dr. Balok’s highly skilled surgical ability and the technology of the eye lens that was implanted I have experienced a modern day miracle. My vision went from severe impairment to slightly better than 20/20. I have experienced no complications or issues.
If you need to have cataract surgery I highly recommend Riverside Eye Center. The staff is competent, professional, and friendly. I couldn’t have selected a better doctor or clinic.

The Doctors and staff are professional, friendly, warm and kind. We have been going to Riverside Optical for about 15 years. This past year, we have moved quite a distance away from the office but we find it worth the extra travel time to keep our Eye Care with Riverside. We have no intention on changing. We're thankful to the Doctors and Staff.

I have no idea how this office has this many good reviews. Dr. Lee was very nice and personable, but the office staff is terrible and they want to fee you to death to pay for all their equipment. I arrived to my appointment on time but had to wait a half hour because the woman who's appointment was after mine showed up early. They got my prescription wrong and despite being given the HARD SELL for glassen from there, I opted to order online because I'm a mom of 2 and my glasses get roughed up (which I was very transparent about because my current ones are in such bad shape). The receptionist was so incredibly rude to me when I called and asked if they'd check out the glasses I ordered because I ordered multiple pairs and all of them were messed up in one eye but since I didn't order them there, they'd charge me. I couldn't tell you the fee because I think she was making it up as she went along, so it was different every time we spoke. Ok, understandable. I kindly told her I'd skip that and just grab my contacts. I think my original appointment was rushed and they were running behind so they didn't properly fit me. I was supposed to try on the contacts in the office but the receptionist threw them at me over the counter and told me call if there's any issues.
⚠️ EDITING TO ADD: I went back a second time to have my eyes checked and was given a completely different prescription. We ordered trial contacts and had them sent to my house because once again I couldn't try them in store and I was told it was safe to order new glasses online. I should have known better than to order them before the contacts came in but I did and of course my prescription was wrong AGAIN. I had to cancel my glasses and was charged for half the order and ended up just going to Sam's Club optical and paying out of pocket since MyEyeDr. wasted my exam covered by insurance. The doctor there came up with COMPLETELY different numbers, allowed me to try my contacts on in store, and even let me test out the prescription in glasses too.
Overall, the office staff at MyEyeDr. was friendly but essentially useless and cost me a ton more money and time than necessary. I feel bad giving 1 star but honestly, this entire ordeal was ridiculous and unpleasant. Over 3 months since my first contact with them and i can FINALLY get new glasses.
