Since 1994 Dr. Stemley and his AMAZING staff have been our ONLY source of eye care. Always the ultimate professional Dr. Stemley is the optometrist I have recommended to many friends and because you're reading this I will recommend him to you, too. 8/10/2019 Update: Dr. Stemley has retired but the office staff is just as AMAZING and WONDERFUL as ever. Keep going back.

Carlsbad Optometry is clearly my goto place for optometry. A visionary in my local community, they have become a focal point for all eye related concerns. When I first made contact, I knew I had peeped the right place. Upon seeing me enter I was provided with top tier customer service. The entire staff is kind, knowledgeable, and caring. The prices are also transparent. I couldn't see myself going to another optometrist again.

I got PRK surgery here at Carlsbad Eye Care and was so blind I couldn't drive for almost 2 months, had to quit my job for that whole time only for in the end the surgery gave me ZERO percent improvement in my vision, it just made my corneas thinner (bad). When all was said and done, they told me to go pay someone experienced another few thousand to do it all over again. No refund at all.
Honestly, the only thing that could have made this experience worse would be if my vision was permanently damaged.

After finding them on groupon for lasik/PRK, I booked a free consultation. Their office is in a beautiful location, and the surgery center was conveniently located closer to DT San DIego. Dr. Tracy and his wife Natalie (also the receptionist) were very helpful and friendly from the get-go, I could tell they had a ton of experience with this procedure. I called numerous times to ask and re-ask questions about the procedure and payment options and recovery, and every time they were beyond patient and friendly. Every step of the way was explained to me in detail and given to me in writing, and I received reminder phone calls as well as emails-which I appreciated. One thing I wish was different, I did not receive my after procedure instructions until after the procedure. I do wish I received those ahead of time so that I could familiarize myself with what to do before I couldnt see/was all loopy from the drugs. It may have also helped to reduce my anxiety on surgery day because I wouldnt have to worry about making sure I wasnt missing any information and was going to be doing everything correctly-but not a big deal at all. I never felt like anything was being pushed on me. They were very flexible and willing to work with my schedule and were upfront about everything. They told me to take my time in deciding if I wanted to do the surgery, and there was never any cancellation or late fees, or any other hidden fees. Just the surgery fee and the prescriptions (which in total cost me $30.00. While the procedure was not covered by any insurance all the prescriptions were, and I dont even have great health insurance). Lasik/PRK is not a cheap procedure, but I did not feel over-charged and felt very comfortable with these doctors the whole time. This is not the most expensive place in town, but it is also not the cheapest. Up to you to decide what kind of experience you want to have. Everything was fast, I had two pre-appointment testings (which are about an hour long, but that is because of all the tests they do to decide which laser eye surgery procedure is best for you and if you are even a candidate), the surgery, and a few follow up appointments, and I never had to wait to see the doctor at any of these. I even showed up half an hour late to one of my appointments and it was no big deal!
Dr. Tracy recommended PRK for me. The procedure itself really is painless, but it was terrifying, not going to lie! They did a great job making me feel as comfortable as possible, and gave me a Valium before hand as well as a teddy bear to hug during the procedure (which, having something for your hands to do really helps...). Their procedures are on Thursdays. After the procedure, I ended up having some intense pain over the weekend, which was taken care of by the pain pills I was prescribed, but it was not fun. Because of my vision, I did not feel like I could go back to work/do anything that required good vision until a week after my procedure, but this is different for everyone who gets PRK-they told me most people are ready to go back to work the Monday following the procedure. My eyes are dry after the procedure, but nothing too uncomfortable following that initial weekend. All-in-all it was easy and I would recommend it to anyone on the fence, especially with Dr. Tracy and Natalie.

Very happy! After seeing another Ophthalmologist for 3 years, I am now a pt of Dr. Tracy. Stopped my red eyes, with treatment not suggested before. He was very interactive and made suggestions that were not offered before. Many Eye Docs immediate upsell addt'l services. Dr. Tracy spent a lot of time with me and is really helping me out! Talked to me about differences of Tear Duct Plugs and various similar consultative aspects that MD's don't normally allow time for! thx

We have been coming to Daniel & Davis Optometry for the last 12 years, and I won't trust our vision to anyone else - in spite of the fact that we have to drive 30 miles to get there. I was introduced to Dr. Daniels when my son was 5, and was diagnosed with a condition that threatened his vision. It was a late diagnosis and we weren't even sure if it could be corrected at that point. But a physical therapist friend of mine recommended us to this practice and my son enrolled in the Vision Therapy program. It was difficult to make the drive for each appointment but totally worth it, because his vision was completely restored to where it should be. He initially started in glasses, and later graduated to contact lenses. That transition was difficult for him because he's on the autism spectrum, but the staff was super patient with him through every attempt and finally he was successful. Now he has no problem at all with the contacts and I'm so thankful for all the help he received along the way. My whole family continues to come here for our annual eye exams and glasses/contacts prescriptions. They also have a great 30 day guarantee on glasses. Over the years Dr. Daniel has become a part of our family and a trusted friend, and we will keep coming here as long as she is part of the practice.

Both myself and my husband have been to see Dr Coffey. We both had a great experiences with our exams and interactions with Dr Coffey. She took her time and was very thorough in our exams. My contact prescription is tricky due to it being a multi focal lens. Dr Coffey suggested that I try two different strengths of lenses and the have a follow up appointment to verify which worked best for me. At the follow up she decided to have me try one additional pair and then suggestedI contact the office if those worked for me. I was so happy to have her be so diligent and patient with me as we figured out what would be best. I would highly recommend others book an appointment with Dr Coffey.

I just had to take a moment to express my unabashed thanks to Daniel & Davis Optometry! Through the years I'm grateful to be able to call Jim & Susan - friends. Their "Cutting-edge" practice has been more than my family and I could've hoped for. From their state-of-the-art equipment to the professional and personal touch that the Davis' and their fine team readily display upon walking into their offices, makes it an incredibly positive experience.
On another note, kudos to the Davis' for all they continue to do to better the lives of individuals and our local community through complimentary eye tests and services to local schools and programs. They are extraordinary and all of us are beneficiaries of their great help to so many.

The staff is welcoming and professional. The eye exams are thorough and first rate. The doctors take the time to listen to my concerns and explain any matter of details needed relating to my eyes. I only wish the wait to be seen wasn't so long. Sometimes I have to wait a whole hour before I'm seen by the doctor.
