Today was my son’s first appointment with Dr. Jong and I COULD NOT be more pleased with the professionalism and quality of care we received. My son who is 8, has been struggling with reading due to intermittent double vision. He has been prescribed glasses in the past that would improve his quality of vision, but I often still noticed him closing one eye to read, trouble accommodating when switching from near to far tasks, complaining of headaches, etc. After a few visits with the optometrist I work for in Lafayette, it was recommended for him to see Dr. Jong for vision therapy! Personally, having 10 years experience in the optometry/ophthalmology field, I can say that the level of care Dr. Jong, Sydney (technician), and her entire staff offered to us today was phenomenal and much appreciated!!
SO happy to have their help on this journey!!
-a very thankful momma

Easily one of the most unprofessional establishments I have ever walked in to. For starters, during my appointment in August of 2023, the contact lens department took out my contacts and disposed of them as I was to be fitted for new ones at the appointment. Come to find out they do not even have my prescription in stock, meaning I had no vision. I had to leave my car at the building and have a relative pick me up and take me home last minute. Second, I called medical records to get my most recent prescription and they sent me a random prescription from 2018. When I went to call back and ask for my exam results from 2023, I was told that I was not able to get them and to hold on the line for one of the doctor's medical staff. To which no one answered and I tried 3 times. I left a voicemail before 3:30 and my call has still not been returned. The nurses that work in this place have the most sorority stricken attitude I have ever witnessed, and that is coming from a sorority girl. I truly pray for the folk that walk through this department's doors as life seems to get overwhelmingly hard after you have entered. The biggest part to that, is that it doesn't have to be. It is the employees and doctors who make this place so painstakingly annoying.

I recently had an experience at EMC that I feel compelled to share, as I believe it could be an important learning opportunity for both the staff and future patients.
I went in for a routine procedure, during which my pupils were dilated using an ointment. Unfortunately, the effects of the dilation and potential side effects were not explained to me beforehand. As a result, I experienced significant light sensitivity and blurred vision, which I was not prepared for. This led to a challenging and unsafe situation as I attempted to drive to work after my appointment but due to mỳ concerns I had to wait for an hour for the effects to diminish. Yet, I had headaches as well as blurred vision all day and had to cancel my class for this.
I understand that medical procedures can sometimes have unexpected outcomes, and I appreciate the hard work of healthcare professionals. However, I believe clear communication and proper patient education are crucial components of safe and effective care.

David Dragon needs a lesson in empathy and manners. My 78 year old father who is battling stage 4 terminal cancer was referred to David Dragon as he is losing his vision. Dragon told us 3 times that he did not know why we were here and that he would not get involved in our case. He was rude and acted like we were wasting his time. We immediately left feeling so rejected and defeated. Do everyone a favor David and just retire already. You clearly don’t want to do your job nor treat people with dignity. Such a disgrace. I will mention Katrina was excellent and was very helpful when I called to schedule the initial appointment.

Always a welcoming environment. Stephanie and Kim are very personable and gracious. Doctor Johnston is clear in his analysis. An area to grow would be some sort of shade, blinds or sheets. Many patients suffer from Glaucoma, and the EXTREME BRIGHT NATURAL LIGHT makes navigating the office difficult.

Words can’t accurately describe how good Dr Johnson is. In fact, the whole staff is wonderful. Everyone is professional and personable. I highly recommend this place for all of your eye care.

My daughter has been coming here for years, but today is probably her last time. I had to wait 2 months before she was able to be seen and that wasn’t a problem! When we arrived on time for the appointment there was nowhere to sit and the environment just didn’t feel welcoming. No magazines, television or music! I think if you’re going to be sitting in a doctors office for a long period of time there should be something there to take your mind off of the long waiting time.

It was my first time at the La. Center for Eye Care and the experience was very pleasant. The examination was thorough and informative. Dr. Okogbaa is very personable. She is also professional.
I would recommend her to others.

The Optometrist was very thorough and explanative. She answered my questions and described ways that my symptoms may be interpreted. Primarily, she corrected my vision by 6 clicks on her exam device and showed me our much things have changed! I appreciate the personal attention and professionalism I experienced during my exam.
