I've been coming to Dimond vision clinic for years and have always enjoyed my visits with Dr. Kjome. He is friendly and provides helpful advice. On the other hand my visit with Dr. Frank yesterday was completely unacceptable. When discussing patient history, I explained that I was having to use my contacts for longer than ideal because of financial reasons. He was rude, judgemental, and confrontational, insisting I give him a good enough reason for having to ration my contacts. I won't be back.

A friend needed me to accompany her to Makar Eyecare this past week and I was very impressed. The staff was professional and accommodating and the facility was lovely. The comfortable waiting area included a great space for kids. Their selection of glasses was very extensive with frames available in all colors and price points. Dr. Clark took his time to explain procedures and answered all our questions patiently. With weekend hours they are able to accommodate those with hectic weekday schedules as well.

The doctor I worked with was VERY nice and professional but….holy cow this place’s billing department cannot get it together. I am not sure how in the matter of 8 days, my bill went up almost $150. Like yeah I know I should’ve paid the first bill right away but that’s a little challenging when you’re traveling. I really only ever go to Makar because they have last minute appointments available. DO NOT come to these guys unless you enjoy paying random bill amounts at different times. I’ve been to them 3 times and it’s the same case every time. Save yourself the headache.

My family have been a long time patients @ Makar and recently the communication and service has gone downhill. We had issues last year ordering contacts, but I gave them a pass due to Covid etc. This year has been the same. I’ve got a kid out of state and trying to get his contacts ordered and delivered to the correct address is proving ridiculous! But you can bet my massive payment went through immediately. Very disappointed. Good luck getting anyone on the phone either! Multiple calls/messages and no return. I called 10 times today before someone finally answered. And we still don’t have contacts.

Unfortunately I felt compelled to leave this review after several rude interactions with the front desk staff or whomever picks up the phone at this office. Sadly these reviews are probably not viewed by the business owners but the customer service at this place is extremely lacking. Calling to make an appointment, ask for follow ups, or anything really is met with incredibly rude, short, and unkind responses. Certainly makes me want to take my business/health elsewhere. It's very unfortunate because the doctors, Morgan in particular, are consummate professionals and their patients are being negatively impacted by the office staff.

Dr. Shatten examined me after being hit in the eye with bear spray. This office was somehow able to get me in for a same day walk in appointment. The front desk staff, employees in the exam room and Dr. Shatten were all amazing. I can’t recommend this place highly enough. They have enough staff to get people in same day somehow? This place is THE alaska eye hospital. Thanks Ophthalmic Associates!

After several tests I learned that my vision is 20/20 and my eyes are doing well. At my age I expected to hear my vision wasn't as sharp, but the doctor said I'm doing well. If you're visiting the Ophthalmic Associates I hope you have positive news too, however I'm confident that you're in the right place no matter the situation. Parking is a little strange here, but there is a parking lot next door and it's free. Make sure the parking sign says, "Ophthalmic Associates" or you're in the wrong parking lot. There are stairs, many stairs, so expect a mild workout to visit the waiting rooms and restrooms. Cell phone coverage was fine downstairs, but the Internet connection will be much slower. Wonderful eye Dr here and the office staff are tremendously helpful and kind. I even stopped my free eye Dr to come here and pay. Because they're that good. 🙌 thank you! …

Highly recommend!! I had an infected tear duct and they managed to schedule me in 2 hours after calling to be seen. The staff was incredibly friendly, kind, and efficient. I'm usually a nervous wreck at the doctor's but I immediately felt at ease here. I will be making them my primary optometrist!

The humans at this place are magnificent, extremely polite, very welcoming and respectful. I appreciate the ability to receive texts and text back. I get immediate response and they do everything to accommodate my busy schedule. Dr. Smith is the best and I am happy to be their patients. Highly recommend this place.
