I have been seeing Dr.Maybery for over 10 years because he is a great eye doctor. I am still willing to pay $128 for my yearly eye exam even though I carry VSP(Renaissance vision and dental) insurance.
On the other hand, his office staff always somehow frustrates and requires the utmost patience.
Here is some of the past:
Over 8 yrs ago- they used to take blood pressure. The office worker scared me because they used that “tiny unreliable bp wrist cuff” and told me that I needed to go to the hospital because I was going to stroke out.
Second, 4 years ago the head office manager cussed out my insurance agent during a 3 way conversation because they wouldn’t honor my health plan. They also harassed me because I wrote a bad review.
I took the review off and then blocked the phone number to the office.
Last, I was hoping for improvement from this new office staff. Judging from the past recent reviews- little has changed.
Be careful when you hand your glasses to the office worker who is doing your tests before seeing the real eye doctor. I noticed that there was an obvious scratch on my previously clear lenses after I left the office!
I am not making this up! This is why I always get “lens replacement” insurance for scratches on my eye glasses because I always notice the scratch and it affects my vision. Now, I have to wait 2-3 weeks for my new prescription and glasses!
I am really angry!

Meh.
My appointment took a total of 45 minutes. The doctor was super nice and helpful in answering all my questions. The supporting staff though? Not so much.
One of the girls at the front desk was completely uninterested in answering the questions I had about what was covered in my insurance. She seemed so annoyed. Definitely not welcoming at all. Everyone else though, super great!
But one poor team member ruins the whole experience. I know going to the eye doctor is not at the top of the list of fun things to do, but come on girl, You’re the face of the company, and just because of your poor attitude, I kinda don’t want to come back. That ruins business.

I have seen Dr. Maybury many times and have always had positive visits. I hesitated to make an appointment with a different doctor because he was not working on the day I called in for a same day appointment. I saw Dr. Choe and had an equally positive visit. They are both kind, communicative, and knowledgeable. The front desk staff has always been helpful. One even charged my cell phone with her charger with her personal equipment while I was with Dr. Choe and refilled the coffeemaker at 3:45 pm for me so I could have a cup of coffee. Anyone can have a bad day but I have not seen that there after about 10 years and 8 or so visits. I highly recommend Dr. Choe and Dr. Maybury.
