Dr. Aruna Rajagopalan earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Optometry from India. She came to the United States to pursue a Master’s degree in Vision Science where she researched different kinds of contact lenses. Her desire to work closely with patients led her to get a Doctorate degree in Optometry from New England college of Optometry in Boston. As part of her clinical rotations at several VA medical centers and community health centers, she gained a lot of experience in treating ocular diseases like macular, degeneration, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy and cataracts. 

Dr. Raj is is board-certified by the National Board of Optometry in the treatment and management of ocular diseases – including glaucoma and therapeutic pharmaceutical agents. Her areas of expertise include primary care optometry, regular and specialty contact lenses, co-managing patients who have had LASIK or cataract surgery. 

Interacting with people of different ages, ethnicities and visual needs is one of the most likable aspects of optometry for her. Knowing to speak different Indian languages like Hindi, Tamil and Telugu has been a great advantage to her patient care. Having kids of her own,she has learnt that the best way to examine little kids is to try to work at their level and keep them engaged at all times. Being in Silicon Valley, and watching everyone juggle a various electronic devices at all times has kept her involved in the visual effects of all these devices and ways to alleviate them. She strives to improve the quality of life of each of her patients by providing the best possible eye care, taking into consideration their specific needs at work, school, or daily life. 

Apart of working, she loves traveling, reading books, cooking Indian delicacies and spending time with my family.
