Karine Gabrielian

Dr. Karine Gabrielian was born in Yerevan, Armenia. She earned her professional degree in Medicine at the Yerevan State Medical School in 1982. Her first residency training in ophthalmology was completed in Armenia at the Malayan Center of Ophthalmology. Her fellowship training in neuro-ophthalmology was conducted at the Helmholtz Eye Institute in Moscow where she defended her doctoral thesis on vascular disorders of the optic nerve. In 1990, Dr. Gabrielian immigrated to the United States with her family. She was a research fellow at the Doheny Eye Institute at the University of Southern California, where she was involved in RPE transplantation studies under the mentorship of Dr. Steve Ryan for 3 years. She has published extensively in leading medical journals in the United States. After successfully completing the NBMA examinations, Dr. Gabrielian began her internship training at the LAC-USC Medical Center, followed by residency training in ophthalmology at the University of Chicago. Before starting her own practice, Dr. Gabrielian worked as a general ophthalmologist at Kaiser Permanente for 3 years. Currently, Dr. Gabrielian is practicing comprehensive ophthalmology at Specialty Eye Care Medical Center. Her main areas of expertise are cataract and refractive surgeries.
