Very efficient eye doctor. Listens to your situation and adjusts you lens or prescription accordingly, until it's comfortable; unlike other clinic who are like robots and works by the book only. He recommends a retina doctor when necessary. He's been my eye doctor for 10 years, could be trusted.
His rate is reasonable too. I tried a different doctor before because of my change of insurance. The doctor I went to (Dr Robert Love) did unnecessary tests just to bill the insurance, even my medical insurance. And his staff words are 'to make the most of your insurance', they try to sell contacts more expensive than normal. All that clinic wanted to do was to make more money! I went back to Dr Sheplan, even if I have to pay cash and reimbursed by my insurance.

For
BJ's Optical
I have been going to BJโs optical for several years now, both in the Port Orange and Sanford locations. I have been more than pleased with their services. The often have specials on frames or a โbuy one get one 1/2 off.โ The professionals that work there have years of experience, usually 20+ years. During this covid epidemic they are still able to assist you with trying on many pairs of glasses while keeping the experience very safe. I was recently presented 4 pairs at my ophthalmologist office. At BJโs they were excited to help me find an additional pair that I was much more happy with. Emily and Michelle are at the Sanford location and are simply the best. You cannot beat the one year warranty that covers your glasses if they are not able to fix them. Strongly recommend checking them out.

Dr. Tozer is an excellent eye doctor. She is extremely thorough, patient with questions and kind. I was hesitant about seeing a specialist at Sam's but I was wrong in that sentiment. She's great!

I previously posted a negative review. I am now withdrawing it, since Dr Sakowitz himself took action to remedy the bad situation. I had posted that one or more of the staff was NOT understanding or compassionate, and that part hasn't changed. My wife is 62, she is from India, and never had any real health issues till this year. She acts like a small child at times, and when the staff told her they would have to dilate her eyes, my wife got into her child like mood and refused. She just wanted to see the doctor first. I told the staff she is Indian, and the eye Dr she was assigned to was also Indian, she would listen to him. But, the staff refused, saying the Dr would only see her once her eyes were dilated. My wife got too nervous and asked that we Reschedule. The Staff AGREED that we should could call back and reschedule. After we got home I convinced my wife to let them dilate her eyes, and she finally agreed. I called the eye center 40 min after we left the office to reschedule. The Staff REFUSED to schedule her again. They told me they would no longer accept her as a patient. I ended the call, but then called back and spoke to the Supervisor - and explained my wife's actions, and also reminded them that just 40 min earlier the staff had agreed that she could call in and reschedule. But, the supervisor informed me that they would not accept her as their patient. She will have to find another eye center.
I found this to be VERY UN-Compassionate. My wife gets too nervous and acts like a small child at times. What she needed was for the doctor to come and speak with her as an authority - but the staff would not let the doctor see her unless she agreed to let them dilate her eye first.
I cannot say if the doctor was compassionate or understanding, or if he is medically a good dr or not, but, i can say that the STAFF is unforgiving, and in my view, and was not at all understanding or compassionate. When you go to see any Dr, it's the staff that you have to deal with the most.
Unfortunately, in our area this was the ONLY eye Dr my wife's insurance would accept. We can't afford cataract surgery on our own. Because the staff refused to accept her as a patient means my wife would remain blind and without any treatment- this was cruel and unacceptable.
As an update, I will say that I eventually communicated with Dr Sakowitz and he instructed his staff to make an exception in my wife's case and they did see her. The Cataract surgery has not been performed because my wife's blood pressure remains too high, we are working on that separately, but, as soon as it comes under control she will have the surgery.

Recently made an appointment because I was worried about my diabetic eyes. Dr. Regis was absolutely informed about my condition and gave me a thorough exam which turned out to be a good one. She really took her time and discussed with me options for glasses as well as her general knowledge of my diabetic eyes. I highly recommend her and this stores eye care department.

The doctor is amazing but the lady at the desk is so rude. I asked her a question about my benefits and she was so rude. My son who is 10 year old and asked what was wrong with her, and why is she so mean. She was not very nice to him either. Unfortunately if I decide to go back, it will be to give her a piece of my mind. I won't be in shock the second time around.

I am consistently frustrated with my experience at this Walmart eye center. We decided to use them because of the price, obviously. But Iโm not sure if itโs worth it. This latest time, I was in a hurry and went out of my way to pick up the โฆ More
