Couldn’t recommend them enough!! I was in an urgent situation where I was without glasses (I have a high prescription and my glasses were lost). They took an immediate appointment, found a way to give me a temp pair of glasses within couple hours and took an order for 2 new glasses with the promise to ship them to me since I was gonna leave town soon! And the service, they go above and beyond!! Definitely consider them for your eyewear needs :)

Service was great, dislike due to being overcharged for an urgent issue - I came in expressing concern for my vision greatly deteriorating in a one week time period. I communicated I had an eye examination with a different eye doctor 4 months ago but came in due to the sudden blurry vision. Dr. Hoglan diagnosed the problem in 30 minutes. Insurance did not cover since it was more than one visit within a year and despite this being an urgent issue (could not drive safely or perform daily job function) Dr. Hoglan's office charged me over $200 for the 30 minute visit.

Parking: there is underground parking shared with the apartment complex. There is signage, but it's not prominent. This office is organized for efficiency. There are two lanes: one for simple check-in, and another for longer interactions with staff. I was called about 10 minutes after my appointment time for a series of eye measurements in a dedicated room, then reseated in the lobby. A few minutes later I was led into an exam room for more vision checks, given dilation drops, then given a somewhat dated DVD to watch on cataract surgery options while the drops took effect. Finally I was led back to the exam room where I finally met with the doctor who performed an eye exam, and then gave very thorough explanation of the options available, their costs, and the pluses and minuses. I was given a copy of the notes the doctor took of our conversation.

The doctors and the nurse staff have been very kind and helpful. I hate giving a two star but the front desk ladies are horrible. They're sarcastic, immature and rude. I've never experienced such unprofessional front desk people anywhere!!

AVOID THIS PLACE. It's easily one of the incompetent & worst managed optometry in town. Horrible experience. I went in at my scheduled reporting time which was 20 mins ahead of my actual appointment. After waiting almost 50 mins, when it was our turn, the front desk "discovered" our paperwork was not ready. If you ask me to show up 20 mins before appointment, why don't you use that waiting time for paperworks? I let that slide, and as I was filling up the forms, they mentioned something about not all codes not being covered and could run my out-of-pocket expenses up to $600. Now I am well aware how insurance works, but that $600 figure sounded fishy - so I said I'll quickly check coverage with my insurance. She said she will be back shortly. I was on the phone for no more than 3 minutes (yes, I timed it) when she comes back and says the doctor canceled my appointment because I was holding them up. It's okay when they make me wait close to an hour, but god forbid if I make a 3 min phone call. I promptly disconnected the call with my insurance so as to not miss the appointment as I had already taken time off work for this, but she said the doctor already canceled in the system and they cannot see me today. Zero empathy, a complete disregard for my time. Noped out of there as soon as I could. Later, I followed up with my insurance and separately with the office and found the particular medical code in question was only $60. Wondering why she said it could run "up to $600", I came here to read the reviews, and confirmed my suspicions when I noticed how another reviewer has described how they were fraudulently billed and given the run-around to contest it and get it fixed. So I am left wondering if it was just incompetence or pure malice. Glad I dodged a bullet. And hope you do too - whoever is reading this.

Positives: Excellent service. The Doctor spent a lot of time with me to determine the best fit for my prescription, and I was able to choose frames that ended up being something I like. I'm picky, too. At my original appointment, the doctor provided in-depth details of my eyes, my nose bridge that I never would have noticed, leaving me more informed. I came to get my glasses, unannounced, and they were able to carve out some time to give me the glasses. Negatives: Glasses took a month to come in, and were estimated at 2 weeks (an anomaly). When picking up the glasses, There was an unexpected charge of $99.20 in the end for some unforeseen charges not covered by my (good) insurance, so I ended up paying out-of-pocket for that. Summary: 5 stars still, because of the enthusiasm, dedication to the job, constantly feeding you information about your eyes, and professionalism of the doctor and his assistant. Note: I see someone on here with a review about yelling, and I could never imagine this guy in that kind of situation. I mean, very passionate about his job, and is very direct about the state of your eyes (as you'd want in this scenario), but definitely never came off as rude once to me.

Avoid this place. The doctor is quite unprofessional. The doctor was more interested in making conversation and jokes than do the eye examination. Because of this, it took twice as long to do the exam compared to other optometrists I've been to. I was there for more than an hour. He also kept leaving the exam to deal with other patients. Very unprofessional. The doctor is a very poor sales man. After the eye exam you are taken to the back and the doctor tries to sell extremely over priced glasses. The selection is abysmal and the doctor being a terrible sales man suggested there was some wrong with me for not picking frames he had chosen for me. Super unprofessional and insulting. Go to a proper optometrist and a proper eye glass shop where they know what they are doing. Never wasting my time with Sunnyvale optometric Center.

The eye examiner yelled at me over the phone for quite a long time. This is the very first time I’ve encounter such unprofessional eye examiner. I had never experience being yelled at from any professionals that is working in medical field. But as they say, there is always first time for everything. In addition to yelling, he was unable to provide me with reference from my previous examination. I have other things that I would like to say but I will not provide other details. With this said, I told him that I did not appreciate the way he yelled at me. I hope he doesn’t do this to other patients. I will not go this place anymore and I will not recommend it.

Dr Mendelson is an excellent doctor. He is very experienced and professional. He takes care of both my kids and my family for years. We are very lucky to have him. I cannot say enough good things about him.
