They are very rude and not friendly at all. Was told to take my kids there to get their glasses. Once I walked in Jeff that worked there was very rude and loud and told me my kids would have to be with me. Took them back today and a young lady that work there told me that their glasses were out and they didn’t know when they would be in stock. No sign on the door or anything I wasn’t aware but she was so rude. They are so rude I’m counting it a blessing that I didn’t spend any money with this company. Their staff is completely rude and it’s sad if people wouldn’t do business with them their company wouldn’t exist

Randy was great! He explained my insurance so I could understand it. He gave me plenty of options to customize my lens. They were very busy but I was very impressed. I'll be sending my coworkers in next week:)

Can’t rate the service but I have experience with the staff. Called a day ahead to check if my insurance was accepted. I was assured that it was. Got to my appointment that I took time off work to go to, only to find out that they DIDN’T accept my insurance. Held no one accountable and didn’t offer an apology. It’s very clear they didn’t care about my time.

My husband and I brought our son to get his first pair of glasses and from the scheduling process to check out, was all very easy and seamless. We were greeted with smiles, our wait was less than 10 minutes. The assistant who did my son's initial eye exam was polite. The doctor was kind and professional, she explained things in a way that helped us understand and even took time to talk to our son (five years old) so he could understand. When he picked out his frames there was a nice selection for kids and the assistant Joi was wonderful! She explained our insurance coverage, our out of pocket and by her professional and personable approach, we bought a second pair of glasses for our son and even decided to schedule an appointment for ourselves. The entire staff made us feel comfortable and welcome especially our son. We highly recommend this location.

Horrible burn spots on cover I thought it was bugs the room smells musky really bad smells I had to go out to the office and get air freshener. The light coming through the window at night cause distractions of sleep

I never leave reviews ever, but I had so many issues that I feel like I have to. I do want to clarify though that my actual doctor was really kind and did a great job, however that did not make up for my experience. I have always gone to my hometown americas best, but I went to this one because I’m here for school and didn’t have time to drive 5 hours home. I walked in and it took them 45 minutes trying to pull up my insurance, and then told me they couldn’t accept it. My mom and both of my brothers used the exact same insurance at an americas best the week before. They told me to call my insurance and figure it out myself then rescheduled my appointment. I didn’t even call my insurance. But, I went back for my rescheduled appointment and suddenly my insurance came up and they could accept it. I had my appointment and everything was fine. I went to check out and order new contacts- I’ve worn contacts and glasses for almost 10 years and have bought my contacts from AB since I first got glasses, I’ve always gotten the same brand and type, only adjusting the prescription if needed. I’ve always been handed them in store on the same day, and I’ve always had daily’s. Always. They fail to mention until after I swiped my card that they had ordered my contacts and they wouldn’t be here for 2 weeks- the entire reason I made the appointment was because I needed new contacts immediately. I asked why they didn’t ask me if I wanted them shipped and if I could buy them in store and they said no. Frustrated, I left the store and came back 2 weeks later and they handed me a box of monthly’s, not daily’s, then told me I’d have to schedule and pay for another exam if I wanted daily’s. Yeah, I will never be returning to this location- it’d be easier for me to sit in the car for 10 hours and drive home.

I love Dr. Johnson. The negative here is that you can never get anyone to answer the phone here to make an appointment. You have to call multiple times, multiple days in a row, before you get anyone to pick up. I will likely end up changing because of this.

I would discourage anyone from scheduling an appointment with Dr. Dawn Johnson located at JCPenny Optical, 1701 McFarland Blvd E. Tuscaloosa, AL. 35404! I've been waiting since December 28, 2018 for my sons contacts to arrive. I paid Dr. Dawn Johnson $115.00 for my sons eye exam, and another $223.90 for his contacts THAT DAY! As of today 03/03/19, I still have not received his contacts! Not only have I made numerous attempts to speak with Dr. Dawn Johnson directly about the status of my order, but she has not once returned my calls. And, each time I stopped by the store, I was advised by her staff member the contacts hadn't arrived and to call before stopping back by the store so I wouldn't waste a trip! The next attempt for the status of the contacts, I was advised by a lady staff member the contacts were shipped to a location I haven't lived at for years! I found this quiet confusing since my last order arrived at my current residence. I was then advised she would place another order for the contacts to ship directly to the store and that she would list this order as urgent and assured me I would receive a call ASAP. A week had passed and no update on the contacts, even though the order was supposed to be expedited! The second week rolled around and still no call! So again, I called the store and spoke with another staff member. He advised me the contacts were showing on his computer that they had arrived at the store, but... he couldn't locate them and assured me he would call me back ASAP. It's been four days now and I have still not received a call back from anyone! So again, I called the store only to get an answering machine where you can't even leave a message because it is full! At this point, I have no other choice but to take my son to another optometrist for an eye exam and hope he can get his contacts within a couple of weeks! I estimate this will cost me at the minimum $300.00 - $500.00, depending on the doctor who can see him ASAP! I do hope Dr. Dawn Johnson is happy with my money!! I have never been treated this poorly by someone who I paid for their professional service. I will never shop at JCPenny again!

I'm leaving this review for my father who asked me to post about his excellent experience at the Tuscaloosa, Target Optical store. He stopped in while passing by and was treated very well by the employee helping to fix his new glasses, that had been purchased elsewhere. Service was quick and friendly; they performed the quick repair while he waited and got him on his way. He noted that the service was quick, employees were cheerful, and the selection was great. A+, Would recommend to a friend!

I love Target Optical. I've been coming here for years. Selection of eyewear is a wide variety and affordable prices. Mr. Shane is awesome and very helpful and throughly explains your eye exam results and recommends whats best fitting for you. Highly recommend!
