Mark Graves

Dr. Mark Steven Graves was born in Kansas and moved to Oklahoma as a young child. His journey in education began at the University of Oklahoma, in Norman, where he pursued a degree in chemical engineering. His academic excellence was recognized when he was named Outstanding Senior. Driven by a passion for medicine, he continued his education at the University of Oklahoma, where he attended medical school. During his time there, he was inducted into the medical honor society as a junior, highlighting his dedication and exceptional performance. Dr. Graves completed his residency at the Dean McGee Eye Institute - Oklahoma Health Center, at the University of Oklahoma, solidifying his expertise in ophthalmology.

Dr. Graves' interest in eye care was deeply personal. In high school, he suffered a chemical eye injury that underscored the importance of vision. Additionally, a church friend’s father, an ophthalmologist, inspired him when he watched a video of cataract surgery. These experiences fueled his passion for ophthalmology, which he pursued vigorously in medical school.

Throughout his career, Dr. Graves has made significant contributions to his field and community. He served as a member of the hospital medical staff governance and hospital board for over 20 years and held positions such as Chief of Staff and President of the County Medical Society. His leadership and commitment have left a lasting impact on the medical community.

Currently, Dr. Graves treats patients with a wide array of eye issues and performs surgeries, including those for cataracts. His expertise and compassionate care have earned him the Readers’ Choice Award for Best Eye Doctor from the Paris News.

Outside of his professional life, Dr. Graves enjoys spending time with his children and grandchildren. He feels blessed to have been able to practice medicine and raise his family in Paris, Texas, a community he holds dear.
