Dr. Lauren & Kristen (sp?) were so welcoming and gentle! They made sure my contact prescription was the best fit for me and made me feel so comfortable during the entire process. They even offered to check-in to make sure I’m still … More

I was charged an extra $49 for a “wellness check” on top of the comprehensive exam even though my insurance copay was only $10. They also charge too much for their glasses. The front desk associate was pleasant, but the sales consultant at the end of the appointment was not helpful and not warm. They insisted on the extra payment in order to release my prescription despite my not having the extra money with me and my request to be given a bill. I was so concerned that this place was a scam that I researched my record from three years ago to compare the prescription to make sure it was right. Thankfully, it seems fine. However, when I told my old eye doctor office about the “wellness charge” I was told it should be a part of the comprehensive exam and something’s not right. Don’t waste your time and money with My Eye Doctor in Machesney Park.

The staff and doctor was so nice ! I didn’t wait long we were in and out. They were all so kind to myself and my kids. Especially the doctor, loved his personality and so nice.

I scheduled an appointment for my daughter to have her Kindergarten screening test done. First off, it took almost 3 weeks to get me in. I had explained to the woman on the phone while scheduling, that she knows her numbers but can only read some letters. When I arrived the office staff was very pleasant. Those ladies deserve a higher rating, but not the Opthamologist. He was very short with my daughter. Now she's only four years old, and gets frustrated when she cant do something right. He flipped through a handful of numbers/letters, pretty fast and then got frustrated when she didn't know them. He did not provide a full exam, instead, said she needed to go see a Pediatric Opthamologist because he couldnt deal with her. They still tried to bill my insurance for a full exam, which WAS NOT PROVIDED. They were fully aware of my daughters age and ability prior to the appt. I will never return to this establishment.

SAVED MONEY! I got glasses today for half what I paid last year at another eye glass store. The sales rep, Nicole Ritter, was helpful and very patient as I tried on several frames. She gave great suggestions that helped me decide on the best pair for me. I will refer this place to my family & friends.

I originally went to Advanced Rockford Eye Care to get an exam and new glasses, as a first time patient. I was planning on purchasing glasses and prescription sunglasses. I was not happy with the service they provided and ended up only purchasing glasses, which I feel were a little expensive. I decided to obtain my prescription and go elsewhere for my sunglasses and ended up at the Meijer in Machesney Park. From the moment I walked into the optical center I felt welcomed by Katherine, who was already helping someone. When she was finished she welcomed me to look around and even was giving me feedback on different styles I was trying on. The whole process from start to finish was completely unexpected but absolutely appreciated. Katherine was very personable and made the whole process an enjoyable one. I will be coming back to Meijer Optical in Machesney Park from now on. Thanks Katherine!

Out of network for my insurance. However, the staff was so amazingly helpful, that my glasses were less expensive than in-network! Savings of $100-$150 this year! I receive compliments on the cute frames I found there, as well. Great quality + affordability = Win win!

My mother with Alzheimer’s got turned away!
I came here about a year ago to get an eye exam and new glasses. Upon receiving my glasses weeks later, the prescription was incorrect and I could not see out of them. I brought them back to the Grayslake location in hopes of having the script fixed, only to be told by the “Doctor” that it was MY fault. The staff, especially the “doctor” made me feel like an inconvenience.
I returned this week, hoping the experience would be better for my mother, who has Alzheimer’s. I booked in advance by phone with a staff member and was assured they could accommodate us. The Saturday before the appointment, I confirmed the appointment online after receiving an email asking to. Upon arriving for our appointment today, and after getting my mother ready and taking the day off of work, we were treated exceptionally poorly!!
The staff told us they had canceled our appointment because we did not confirm it with them, even though we confirmed online and had receipt of this! The staff member at the front desk could have cared less for us. She didn’t even attempt to fit us in or have ANY empathy for our situation, in which we did nothing wrong. My mother, who needed new glasses desperately, now has to wait until we find another place and we’ll have to go through this whole process again. I would NEVER recommend this business to anyone. They are careless and are the prime example of what’s wrong in the healthcare system.

Scheduled an appointment for my son last week and showed up today for the appointment. Received a text reminder yesterday confirming our appointment details. The receptionist said their online confirmation doesn’t communicate with their office so unless we confirmed verbally over the phone the appointment gets cancelled. See other people’s reviews mentioning the same thing. She then asked if I wanted to cancel the appointment even though she just said they gave the slot to someone else?! Needless to say we won’t be coming back and I wouldn’t recommend their office to any of my patients even though I like to refer to local businesses. This is a horrible policy. I’m a local practitioner and can’t imagine doing this to any of my patients.

I showed up early for an appointment (10:55) thinking my appointment was at 11am. I was told my appointment was at 11:20, no biggie, a 25 minutes wait was okay with me. However at 11:40am I walked out I because I was told they were running late and it’d be another 15 minutes before I would be taken back. So extremely unprofessional and disrespectful of my time. Tried to reschedule to give them another chance but they had appointments for a week out and my benefits expire in 4 days. They lost a customer!
