I was really nervous about cataract surgery. Dr Zeglam was friendly and answered all my questions calmly. His staff and the surgical staff treated me with friendly efficiency and I wasn’t scared at all. I will definitely continue with Dr. Z as my eye doctor and highly recommend him to any and everybody

I recently had cataract surgery with Dr. Zeglam. Everyone at the office was professional, very pleasant and took the time to answer all of your questions even with a packed reception area. Dr. Zeglam went over and above with his consultation. They walked me through the various corrective options, explained what my insurance would cover and what my cost would be to the penny. I have had no problems at all with my surgeries. I would recommend Gainesville Eye Physicians to anyone and everyone. I very much appreciate their level of medical care.

My eye doctor provided a referral to Gainesville Eye Physicians and Dr. Zeglam for surgery options. Best referral I have ever been given. Dr. Zeglam is professional, thorough, and on top of his game, and his staff is top-notch. Surgery on both eyes was a complete success--could not be more pleased. Highly recommend.

I recently had total lens replacement surgery at Eye Associates of Gainesville, FL. I was a new patient to the practice, and I was very impressed with the care I received. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and the doctors were knowledgeable and experienced.
Both surgeries went smoothly, and I was able to go home the same day. I experienced some discomfort and blurry vision in the first few days after surgery, but this resolved quickly. I am now two weeks post-op, and my vision is amazing! I am so grateful to the team at Eye Associates for helping me achieve glasses-free vision.
I would highly recommend Eye Associates of Gainesville to anyone considering total lens replacement surgery. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, the doctors are experienced, and the surgery is performed with the utmost care.
Here are some specific things I appreciated about my experience at Eye Associates of Gainesville:

Dr. Sweeney is a miracle worker. Your eyes will thank you for coming here. I wish the scheduling staff could keep up..
Be prepared for scheduling mishaps without without apology…. Very dismissive regarding their own errors, which is frustrating. They do not respect your time.

Whether they’re busy and packed with people or very few, it still takes an hour or more just to get placed into their second waiting area. They have to work on time management as others like myself still need to get back to work. It shows a lack of care for people’s time. And unfortunately have to find a different office that respects people’s time. And they need to work on biohazard training for their employees. Finally get to sit down to wait even longer in the room and find a used swab😒 Hour and a half is way too long for a follow up. Zero stars if I could!

Quite possibly THE WORST service I have ever received from any medical provider. Let me tell you why:
1.) They stopped taking almost ALL insurances, making it near impossible for patients such as myself who have been seeing the doctors at NFCS for years to continue to receive services. And if you are inquiring about what type of insurance provider I have - I have a very good vision plan with Humana. I had been using NFCS' services since I was 12 and their office was located on University Ave. As someone with an extreme prescription since I was very young, it's disheartening to not be able to continue to see the doctors I've been seeing for years who know and understand my medical history. Having been a patient for roughly 16 years, it's a wakeup call to see how little they care about you. You know what this means? They see customers as cash cows because you are more than likely paying out of pocket. Makes you wonder how many people they have taken advantage of with this tactic.
2.) Unable to reach a person on the phone in-office during operating hours. On a number of occasions, I have tried to reach out to their office for inquiries, assistance and even to make or cancel appointments. It is near impossible, no matter which extension you use to get somebody on the phone. I couldn't even get somebody on the phone to cancel an appointment I had to make MONTHS in advance because they now don't take my insurance. And they are terrible with callbacks if you leave a voicemail with their afterhours service. Not to mention that the afterhours service kept dropping my call and it took me 30 minutes to be able to relay a 30 second message.
3.) Terrible with Callbacks. Upon requesting my original callback, I was met with one of the rudest individuals on the phone. When I asked that a doctor or office manager call me back so I could explain my situation to someone who had more familiarity with my situation and medical history, I was met with attitude and disrespectful words on the phone something to the tune of "Whoever calls you back is going to tell you the same thing". I did not even receive this call back until 3 days later, and after I called 2 times back-to-back using the different extensions on their answering machine to attempt to speak with someone. No seconds later did I then receive my requested callback from the aforementioned rude woman.
4.) Clear lack of professionalism and general distasteful behavior in their employees. Today I received my second call back after over a week of requesting it. The woman who called did not identify herself and lead the conversation with "We are going to do you a favor". After over a week of not receiving anything back, I had already gone and made myself an appointment with another eye doctor. When I explained to the woman that she wasn't doing me a favor because of the time sensitive situation, she proceeded to childishly and condescendingly exclaimed that "You should just get it from them then" before hanging up. I have in all my years never had a medical professional hang up on me, and frankly I am appalled that they would let someone work there who treats their patients so disrespectfully.
5.) Eyeglasses "professional" is less than professional. This should come as no surprise that the red headed lady who works assisting patients with glasses and sales is by far the nastiest lady you could ever deal with. She once snatched a pair of glasses from my dad's hands because he was trying to look at the model number. Their glasses prices are extremely inflated, and they will try to add on extra unnecessary fees to jack up your costs. Be on the lookout getting glasses from them, you can often find them way cheaper online or at other establishments.
For all these reasons I am giving this medical office a 1/5 stars, however they deserve a big fat 0.

Dr. Snodgrass has been my Ophthalmologist for many years and his entire practice is the gold standard of professionalism and state of the art eye care. My cataract removal surgery was a perfectly designed experience from the initial consultation, through the surgical process, meticulous recovery care, and thorough post operative checkups. The entire staff is highly professional and experienced, and the Surgery Center could not have been better. My surgery and care was carefully planned to suit my individual case and needs. I was thoroughly counseled regarding each decision to choose my best possible result. Everything I needed was provided and instructions were comprehensive. Someone was always available to answer and discuss any questions. I expected the cataract removal surgery would improve my quality of life, but my experience and results were above and beyond anything I could have expected.

I want to start by saying my daughter is disabled so I have had my far share of doctors and specialist. This is by far one of the worst. They have canceled my daughters appointment 3 times this year. I just got a call from the same lady that does the scheduling and she decided to be rude like she always is. They also stated I could only be seen on 2 days of the week none of those days work for my family's schedule. Instead of trying to help me find a solution she said call back when you can come in on those days. And hung up the phone. I also hate when they talk down to me like if they keep repeating what they said it's going to change something. I wish i got her name but she most certainly shouldn't be working with patients.

This is very genuinely the worst group of medical professionals I’ve ever dealt with. The absolute worst bedside manner. The clearly expect you to kiss the ground the walk on for gracing you with their presence rather than actually trying to help you. I was basically told they couldn’t help me for a few months, which is what it is, but was told that something urgent to me just “wasn’t urgent” to them. They then sent me to a different department within UF Shands, and just handed me a card with a number on it and told me to make my own appointment instead of referring me over there. I told them that if they want me to go there to get help, they should refer me and call them to help me get an urgent appointment as I am from out of town. They told me “all the residents are busy but they will do it after”. Okay no worries, but when I finally got to the referral place, I was told no one ever called for an appointment for me. When I asked for the address to the place they referred me to, that is WITHIN SHANDS HOSPITAL, they said they didn’t know the address because it was a different department. You’re telling me you can’t just google it? It’s just the complete absolute lack of willingness to help that really gets me. When I told the doctor I didn’t like his tone when talking to me and my mother, he responded “too bad, this is how it is”. I just can’t get over how small and unimportant they made me feel. I ended up going to the wrong building in Shands, being lost for 2 hours because they couldn’t be bothered to make sure I had the correct address and understood where I should go. I have gotten better costumer service at a McDonald’s than I got at this place. Try going somewhere that actually makes you feel heard and like they actually care about your well-being, not this place where they think you should be grateful just to be in their presence. Absolutely disgraceful that this place is a part of Shands, because the neurological center is wonderful.
