I typically don’t write reviews, but in this case, I think it’s extremely important to write one. Out of all of the optometrists I’ve been to, Dr. Bittel has exceeded my expectations. I have not personally been treated by him, but was looking for an optometrist that could help improve the quality of life for my mom who has severe chronic dry eye.
My mother who is on medi-cal, was merely getting the advice of using artificial tears when she was feeling a lot of discomfort, so much that she started to feel depressed and couldn’t even keep her eyes open for a few hours without feeling a lot of pain. As her daughter, I wanted to find an optometrist who can help improve the quality of her life and also adequately improve her symptoms, and actually if possible, fix the problem. I understood that this would probably cost a lot of money especially since I believed that her condition got progressively worse after not being properly treated.
I personally researched to try to understand the condition of chronic dry, and spoke to 12 different optometrist that I felt could help her and to also understand financially, what I can expect to take a loan out on. After speaking to all of the different optometrist, I decided to go with Dr. Bittel and I could not have made a better decision.
Dr. Bittel truly cares about each and everyone of his patients. He takes a very conservative approach and is very detail oriented. He also takes the time to carefully explain what he is seeing and what he believes are the best next steps in one’s treatment plan. When he doesn’t know the answer to something, he doesn’t hesitate to let us know that he will get back to us, which is really important to me: being honest.
So far, we have tried many different methods, and I have personally seen my mother’s symptoms slowly get better. Given that there is a slight language barrier between my mom and Dr. Bittel, Dr. Bittel provides me updates via email to make sure that I also am at ease and comfortable with the treatment plan that we are going with and so that I can also explain it to my mom. Who does that?!? Those are qualities of a doctor that I didn’t even think I could expect of anyone.
He is truly an amazing and compassionate doctor that set some apart from everyone else. If you have any eye-related needs, I don’t say this often, but he is the one to go to.
Though I live in LA, I am also planning on going to him as long as he continues his practice. The drive is more than worth it.

Service was fine but you have to wait FOREVER just to checkout, regardless of if you are purchasing a pair of glasses. I came for vision checkup and my prescription and was serviced promptly and professionally. Then told I had to wait after the lobby full of people to checkout (pay) and get my prescription. The guy told me it was gonna be a while after acknowledging I just wanted to pay and leave. Very inconvenient and inconsiderate circumstance they have designed for their customers. Now I sit… and wait…

30+ My family and I have been a customer, and the best way I can summarize, it sad that we can not give 7 start rating, I would give that. :-) Professionalism, excellent service, very good selections, and always a very pleasant experience when I or we are visiting for the eyeglasses needs that we have.

For
Pearl Optometry
My eyes have been under the care of Dr. Pearl for well over a decade. I feel very fortunate to have found him. Having never had a regular optometrist, utilizing the services of a well-known chain for a number of years and enduring a number of frustrating experiences, I randomly walked into Pearl Optical one day and found a brilliant doctor who is warm, compassionate (he donates his time and services to provide eye care to people in other countries who wouldn’t have access otherwise), present, and most importantly, listens and really hears and addresses my concerns. His staff is equally kind and attentive. Their communication is expedient and efficient. I genuinely look forward to every visit.

I really like this office, I transferred from another doctor and Dr. Joshi has been more understanding, and empathetic than the doctor I had before. He answered all my questions. I got an appointment quickly, and felt the staff were appropriately attentive.

For
MyEyeDr.
Hopefully this was an isolated situation… I ordered safety glasses from here, after 2 weeks i called to check on them and see when they’d arrive, the lady told me they shipped that day. The next week, I called again to get an update and the lady told me they couldn’t find the frames and we’re sending the display frames from the store to be fitted with lenses. At this point we were almost 3 weeks past since I ordered glasses, now 4 weeks later, I’ve got display frames for my new glasses with no offer whatsoever for a refund, rebate, or any other effort to make this right. Hopefully someone else has better luck here, I won’t be back though.
