Received excellent care from Dr. Negin, and the wait was short even though the office was very busy.

From my personal experience here, do not go here. The practice runs like a zoo and very chaotic. Spent more time with the assistants then the doctor. Doctor also only spends 5 minutes or less and prescribes medication without much explanation and is told to come back in a week. When questioned, doctor will say they did their job and refer me to another specialist in the practice to address the new issue but actually they never addressed the real issue. Please go somewhere else. The doctor I was assigned was horrible and other reviews have stated this person's name. I will not repeat it.

I went in for cataract surgery on one eye. Here's my experience so far. 1. Mystery billing: I went to Pacific Eye Associates and had a consultation. They said I had to go to a different facility (Sutter Health CPMC) to get a lens measurement, so I did. Two weeks later I got a bill for $440.80. Total bill was $551 and my insurance (Aetna) only covered $110.20. I have great insurance so this was very annoying. Then, I decide to get the upgraded Vivity lens. I signed a document that says "$2,600 collected prior to surgery and another $1,000 due on the day of surgery". When I get to the surgery they charged me "LENS Fee $995/AETNA 10% $220" for a total of $1,250. Where did that extra $250 come from? Who knows... they just tack it on. My surgery was yesterday so I suspect other random bills will show up in the mail over the next few weeks. I can eat these expenses but feel like its unethical to not lay all of this out up front -- especially for seniors living on a fixed income or low income patients. When I flag this to them they blame the insurance company or other providers... or treat me like I'm being difficult, so I'm sharing this so others have their eyes wide open when they get this procedure. 2. Disappointing Vision Outcome Update 1 week after surgery. I can see up close but my distance vision is significantly worse than pre surgery. They are telling me that it's just as good as before, but that's totally crazy. It's nowhere close. My distance was clear. Now, anything beyond 5 feet is blurry. I thought paying $4k for a multi focal lens would prevent this but I was wrong. I wish I didn't get the surgery. And if I did do it again, I'd get the mono focal lenses, save $4k and have crisper distance vision. So disappointed!

You can tell they don’t care if you recover or not. They either daily the process or they rush you. You can tell they want to sell you on Lipiflow and fool everyone. The staff and doctors are both rude and they just want to make money that’s their end goal. They don’t care if you recover or not and you can see the lack of empathy on their side.

My recent interaction with this ophthalmology clinic has left me deeply disappointed and frustrated. I reached out to schedule an appointment for my strabismus condition, hoping to receive professional and compassionate care. However, the treatment I received was far from what I expected. The staff I encountered during my call were exceptionally rude and disrespectful. Instead of addressing my concerns and providing assistance, I was met with dismissive and condescending remarks. It is disheartening to be treated in such an unprofessional manner, especially when seeking help for a medical condition. I believe that every patient deserves to be treated with respect and empathy, particularly when dealing with medical issues. My experience with this clinic has been the complete opposite, and it has left me hesitant to pursue treatment here. I hope they can take steps to improve their patient interaction and communication in the future.

I should’ve read all the reviews before I schedule an appointment. I wasted so much time . My experience was absolutely terrible from the beginning until I decide to cancel all coming up appointments Including surgery and went to different clinic.

This is for the UCSF Optometry in Berkeley. All my specialists and PC Drs are with UCSF since 2015. Today, I arrived on time for my appointment with optometry and was still in the waiting room 35 minutes later. I was in a 1 hr parking spot and had to return to work. I drove 30 mts to make this appointment. The receptionist apologized and explained that optometry had overbooked patients and I would likely be seen in 1 hour. So disrespectful to patients. UCSF should invest in more Drs and assistants if they want their customer base to grow in Berkeley. I will not reschedule with optometry at UCSF again.

I went here last year for a pair of glasses and had a good experience. Ladies were helpful and efficient. So I returned yesterday wanting to get a second pair of glasses. However, the people I interacted with last year weren't there, and instead they had a male optometrist who was extremely unprofessional. I never even got in the door because when I opened the door to come in, he immediately told me to wait outside while he finished up with a customer. He and the customer were the only ones in the place, so social distancing would have been very easy. I waited outside for over 10 minutes even though it seemed ridiculous given I could have been checking out and trying on glasses while he finished up, so eventually I politely asked whether I could just browse the store and try on some glasses while he finished up. The guy said no, just telling me I had to wait outside, not giving any reason nor apologizing for the inconvenience or long wait. I waited for another 10 minutes before finally calling it quits. I had plenty of time to observe the near empty store, and the male optometrist seemed to be just chatting up and hitting on the female customer he was with, certainly not trying to hurry in any way. Just extremely unprofessional. I ended up going to Costco for my glasses. While they probably had a smaller selection to choose from, I was able to find something I liked, and I was pleasantly surprised by the great service I received.

I shine away from doing reviews on anything related to medical issues unless it is really bad. However, I'm making an exception for the UCSF vision optical shop for the number of years that I have visited and how consistent the front desk technicians are. I always give some slack when people didn't perform the way that you expected; but those ladies are just so consistent and do the best they can. I wish their employers know how refreshing that is to know that someones are always that consistent and doing that because that are just who they are.
Every Review metters. See what people say about clinics.
